I recognize this.

We are not enough was a common thinking in my family.

The majority of others were better than us.

It came possibly because my parents were Roman catholic, and this was the main stream in the thinking process or prayers. You are sinners, you will go to hell if you do this, or that.
You had to sit on chairs on your knees, that were made to hurt you. The richest people had soft chairs.
