You could also grow marigolds in between the cabbage, its a natural deterrent for the worms.

I'm cursed with yellow margined leaf beetle larva. They destroy brassicas. Bt doesn't work on them, but trap crops (sorry purple tatsoi) and DE have controled their spread.

Do soap-a-cides (I.e. Dr. Bronner’s Castile soap & water) harm pollinators? I know they also work well with cabbage moths.

Jacques. Any thoughts on using mosquito dunks in your rain barrels? They have a form of BT in them and it always seemed to help with gnats

Why don't you just use floating row cover to keep the insects off your brassicas, so you don't have to worry about getting holes in them, and then having to spray? Saves a lot of grief.
