Bro had no kids but little does he know he helped raise a whole bunch of us 90s kids 🙏🏼 thank you

He’s such a sweet guy. He deserves a better headline than that. They basically were trying to say something bad about Jaleel but he actually gave a very graceful answer

He has aged so well. No kids, but helped raised so many. What a class act. ❤

Even though he's not a dad himself, he seems like he was a great father figure to his younger co stars. He looks amazing for 70!

I remember just dissociating, watching this show while my drunk mom and dad would fight and yell for hours…. watching this show now has me crying bringing back all the tender moments i so desperately internalized as a kid that i never got from my real abusive family

For those of us that didn't have a loving dad, this man meant alot. I remember crying almost every time he had a one on one, heart to heart talk with one of the kids. I soaked up every word I could. He was comforting.

I was just a white kid from suburbia who watched Save By The Bell followed by Family Matters every day because they were both great shows in the 90s. It's only fairly recently that it occurred to me how culturally significant and brilliant Family Matters was. Back then to me, it was just a great show with many unique characters all centered around a great family who happened to be black.

Can I just say this man looks amazing considering the time period ET covered? He is so positive, I think that’s why he still looks so good.

1990 baby here and I would be so tuned into this show that growing up I would look for people with the same characteristics as the people on Family Matters. This show was my everything growing up. Today I have kids of my own and I pray that love this show like I did. Carl was the dad I wish I had and taught me so many lessons, that I carry with me to this day. My own dad passed before I was born.. So to see a man take care of his family, teach his kids lessons and be a great husband was very important for me to see. ❤

Having a side-character become not only the star of the show - but also of pop culture at the time - had to be 'difficult'. It was insane how popular Urkel was. Dolls, toys, image on everything possible. And you could rarely go a day without hearing someone use the 'did I do that' line.

For someone who never had kids, he proved to be a wonderful actor. Loved the show! He IS an iconic Dad and I’m glad he has been honored!

this guy helped me so much, seeing how a real dad and family are supposed to be. It brought great comfort to me, and it was the same with all the tgif family shows. Taught me that my father was not a real father at all.

There are generations of kids that love this man and I'm one of them! Class act.

Gotta remember Jaleel was also a teenager. What teenager isn’t difficult. Esp when you become the major star of a show. Like how he answered that question. We should give grace in todays society.
