It actually got worse. After he was released from hospital, cops got a search warrant to place a GPS tracker on his car. Even though the father had been found safe and well, cops suggested that a third party had been killed by Thomas... in some weird unexplained way.

The first police, Guthrie was named a 2019 Employee of the Year for the Fontana Police Department after the inciddent.
Michael Dorsey, the lieutenant who Guthrie says told him and Janusz that officers believed Thomas Perez Jr. had killed his father, has been promoted to captain and is now chief of police of Fontana.
