Some people are lucky to have someone who cares about them. Others of us are made to feel like we’re just taking up space.

My beautiful sister died last January from breast cancer. She ate healthy, she took great care of herself, she looked very healthy, and suddenly she had symptoms and was found to have Stage IV cancer. 😢

Matt - your strength through dependence on the Lord is a strong testimony. Thank you for sharing your story. I have had small lymphocytic lymphoma since 2013, and the support of the community of believers has meant so much to me. Praying for you ...

Good for you, Matt. You were super young and had great fortune to have Lauren in your life. That’s quite rare. Hope everything’s going great for you. Thanks for sharing your story too. That’s just as brave.

I'm so glad you got through this.

I wonder what was the connection with the back pain though? When you hear complaints of back pain, nobody would automatically make that connection

My little brother very likely has testicular cancer. He isn't officially diagnosed but the doctors are nearly sure. They found a mass on his testicle but cannot fully confirm its cancerous until it is removed. he is 30 years old and a few weeks ago his testicle started swelling and hurting. He went to the hospital for blood testing, and they sent him for an ultrasound the very next day. He is going to have surgery tomorrow so we can see how bad it is, what stage, ect. He is a very healthy guy who looks after his body, exercises, eat a clean diet, not overweight, never smoked, and doesn't drink. and me on the other hand (33 years old) was VERY hard on my body, struggle with addiction to alcohol, smoked for years, used drugs in my younger years, am overweight. Life just isn't fair sometimes. Hopefully my brothers is caught early enough that surgery will be enough to fix him. my parents are very upset as you can imagine. We just lost our father last year at age 63, it's been a rough go lately.

It would be helpful if the interviewer asked the patients if there were any lifestyle factors that might have contributed to getting cancer. For example: tanning, stress, irregular sleep, little physical activity, smoking, exposure to dust/asbestos, using a lot of makeup (talk, nail polish, hair products), exposure to scented products/perfumes/VOCs, cooking on pans with PFAS/PFOA, eating out /getting fast-food/takeout often, eating processed food with artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, drinking sodas/alcohol, eating a lot of processed food/meat, profession (miner, hair stylist, nail technician etc.), exposure to chemicals.

Heredity factors have to be considered. My wife had breast cancer at age 41 and died from it at 51 years old. Oncologist counciling to us to make sure that our children be checked for cancer by age 31. 2 out of our 3 children had cancer at age 31, daughter had uterine/ovarian cancer and son had testicular cancer. Both are cancer free on there 10th anniversary of there surgery. Cancer was very prevalent on my wife dad side of family. If you have children make sure there proactively monitored. Sad to say no natural grand children but adopting has given me grand children. Thank you for sharing a silent young man killers symptoms .
