Although the upcoming rotation is definitely cause for celebration, there are plenty of cards Dev will miss, either because they were cool, janky build-arounds or they were sweet roleplayers. So today, a eulogy for 10 rotating cards that didn't do anything wrong.

Strictly Better Mtg is a Magic: the Gathering Channel that does videos on everything Magic the Gathering. We do Mtg Deck Techs, Mtg set reviews, Mtg spoilers, mtg news, mtg speculation, mtg top 10 lists, and much, much more mtg related ish!

Mazemind Tome is like the Treasure Map of this standard. The glue that holds so many decks together.

Not having enough time to play MTG anymore, these rotation videos of yours are probably the last that will really resonate with me. I have thoroughly enjoyed your content over the last few years and wanted to say thanks for enhancing my MTG experience in so many ways. My arena strategy was to grind with the current best red deck so that I could acquire the resources to build some of your decks and have some fun with them. And in addition to putting out such great videos, you are clearly a good dude... so thanks for doing what you do and I wish you continued success.

Stormfist Crusader!! My heart's always there for cards like her, speeding the game up and putting the onus on you to capitalise better than your opponent. Plus, black/red knight is second only to black/red vampire for three words that make me want to play a card.

I'm just glad this rotation is bringing in Innistrad. The first set for Innistrad is my second favorite with Time Spiral being my absolute favorite.

Been paying attention to your chan a long time dev. Your content is great and anyone paying attention to your channel becomes a better mtg player. I highly recommend people subscribe. Though you should show ziggy in a video surrounded by mtg cards. Itd be pretty cool. Fact is dev your deck building is fun always has been. Budget mtg time?

I'm going to miss Lochmere Serpent. I know that Shark Typhoon is a better closer for Dimir Control decks, but I love everything about Lochy.

I LOVED Setessan Champion, I built so many decks around that card in Theros. It was a little slow but just so much fun.

There's so many fun cards that got choked out of standard by Eldraine that would have made standard awesome. I think my favorite to rotate is by far the Clackbridge Troll, Vivien and Massacre Wurm combination deck that I managed to get pretty decent in the end.

So many cool cards I almost had no opportunity to use in standard. Ikoria and M21 were really nice sets and they were so fun to draft.

Great list! These types of non-competitive perspectives are much more fun to watch =)
One of my picks is Birth of Meletis ...I love control and it always helped me out gluing janks together =)

Subscibed solely due to Brash Taunter love! With Stormwild Capridor and cheap instant damage spells, damage sweepers, and fight effects I have had some spectacular explosive wins. Obosh build doming for 20 on foretold iron verdict is also good times.

After the videos about the cards we want rotated, I just knew that you would end it on a high note. You always show an upside. Glad to see worthy send off for the greats. Commence the eulogy.

The card I'm saddest to see go is Garruk's Harbinger...evasion from the most cost efficient removals like heartless act and eliminate and the ability to draw gas from your deck makes it so good...it's just out classed by other 3 cmc creatures like lovestruck beast, kazandu mammoth and gemrazer(technically a 3 drop)

Stormwing Entity and Riddleform are my picks. I still play the Izzet Flyer tempo deck with these and Sprite Dragon all the time and get surprisingly high win rate.

Hooded Blightfang! I'm a new player, but that card was the first one I built a deck around. It really tied my Deathtouch/Fynn deck together, giving me another path to victory.

The burn/heal effect was awesome, and could turn on things like Mortality Spear and Silversmote Ghoul. They could stack so two Blightfangs could really get out of control.

4 health made them hard to remove, and out of range of a single Bonecrusher Giant.

I loved the secondary effect that allowed you to apply the Deathtouch effect to Planewalkers easy removal.

I loved the interaction with cards like Ram Through and Devouring Tendrils. Very cheap, clean, "destroy this creature" removal I could use at instant speed. Devouring Tendrils let's me target Planeswalkers so I could use that secondary effect in the same way I use Ram Through.

I love this card so much. I'm going to have to find a new way to play my beloved Fynn deck now, and I'm not sure if I'll ever find a replacement for this card.

Man this list brought up some good times experimenting with jank stuff. I'd love videos like this during rotation.

I jus started watching your videos and have no idea what ur likes/dislikes are, so, when u said bastion for number #1 it just warmed my heart.. I started mtg thru arena when ikoria first released and due to my noob ness, I didn’t understand tht there were other sets in standard I could buy cards from 🤦‍♂️so 200 ikoria packs later, I began my magic journey with 4 copies of bastion, 4 copies of serry scorp, and a dream... even when I did finally get new cards (2 months later lmao) I just used them to build a better bastion deck, and it’s been the same for every set since... I’m proud to say I now own many cards from many sets, but, there’s none quite like you. All the times we took on hordes of op creatures and jank meta strats with naught but a few 1/1s and a will to sacrifice everything.. and thru all their ignorant attempts I’d jus smile as theyd helplessly watch their life fall to 0 just as mine hits 35.. sigh, so I guess, I just want to say, this comment here will be left... in remembrance of bastion.
