"You Scare Me to Death"

I was writing a song about dying, when I noticed that everyone who writes or sings about death, dies ... and usually tragically.

Marc Bolan was a guitarist, singer and songwriter. With his band T. Rex, he was a pioneer of the glam rock movement in the early 1970s.

Bolan was scared to death of driving, so he never got his licence. Despite this, many of his songs concerned cars (including "you're build like a car"). In 1977, Bolan was a passenger in a car that struck a fence post and a tree. Bolan was killed instantly.

Bolan had just finished a solo album named after the title track "Scared to Death" (which included the line "I like your car"). The album release was delayed until 1981.

I think you missed a trick here..Some fans believe Marc had a premonition of dying, loads of examples in his songs..like 'Picking foxes from a tree' (a line from Solid Gold Easy Action.) the car reg was FOX !...One of the earliest recording was a cover of Dion's 'The road Im on (wont carry me home!) which name checks Gloria!!..to more subtle references like 'Diamond star Halo' and I have never kissed a car before'..to 'Pleasant crescent moon..fills my heart with pain ' ..and its said when he visited the Louvre art gallery ..he starred at a painting from Rene Magritte for ages..the painting is called '16th of September'..loads mor little mentions in his lyric..But of course, loads will say its all nonesense, but its all food for thought!!!!
