While this is true, this is true of all peoples and cultures and not just "the West." When Western nations are expected to take refugees from all over the world while closer nations refuse to help, there is a problem.
Humans are hard-wired to be suspicious of new and different things, and patience is necessary to change hearts and minds.

when Poland lost independent over 200 years ago we had massive emigration from politcal reasons ... we must fight for independence loosing the most value peoples... escaping from own country is not the solution... I personally think that muslam world is just before a Franch Revolution and you must find your own way... coming to Europe or US is not solve proplem.

The Ukranians travel to the neartest safe place - they don't travel to faraway places. No one knows for sure how fast they will return but I am confident they will as soon as possible.

Europe has received untold millions of legal and illegal refugees, many of whom don't integrate. And I won't even get started on pointing out the crime rates for the especially those from countries with the Middle Eastern culture, even after three generations.

"Helping" refugees doesn't mean bringing them to the west. For every one person we can support here, we can support TEN in their neighbouring areas. Those ten would include children, women, old people, handicapped and sick people. If you truly want to help, do you want to help the demanding person or as many people as you can?

It's how they are trying to enter your country. If they don't care about your laws when they enter, they won't care when they are in your country. This has been the case in the US, Sweden and Germany.

There is a massive difference between being a migrant having to escape to the nearest safe country and being an illegal economic migrant who has travelled through many many safe countries to get here and throw passports and phones in the sea just before they get here so we can't prove who they are and check any criminal backgrounds, when it is just boat load after boat load after boat load of fighting aged men an no women and children that need real help.
