Refugees in Europe: Where they come from and where they want to go | DW News

The Balkan route taken by refugees into the EU has not been in the spotlight for some time. But it's still busy and getting busier. EU officials recorded more than 100,000 people without documentation entering the bloc from the western Balkans in the first nine months of 2022. Serbian visa rules make it relatively easy to go from there into the EU. DW's Idro Seferi went to the OBRA-novats Camp near Belgrade.
Meanwhile, Italy's new right-wing government has formally closed its ports to rescue ships run by humanitarian groups. That's as three ships with more than a thousand migrants on board remain stuck in limbo off the coast of Sicily. Crew are reporting worsening conditions on board, including the spread of sickness. Italy's interior minister said ships would be inspected at sea before any further steps are taken.

Always amazes me when how everyone seems to be blind to the fact that these all young men.

Europe can't take in more non-European immigrants, it's having a very negative effect on the native countries (economies and cultures). Specifically immigrants from a certain religion creates problems with violence and rape. Last week 4 Afghan men raped a mother of small children, damaging her seriously. I could go on with many more examples just this year, but suffice to say this is not a small issue.

I think we need to accept Europe cannot solve the problems of all other nations in the world. Especially when many of these problems are not caused by outside factors but are created internally.

Do not let anyone enter EUROPE without any paperwork, I think this is the only way of having any security for our country's. We have had several attacks on our continent without knowing who they really are.

Seeking refuge is not about where you "want to go". The purpose of asylum is to provide shelter for people coming directly from a country where they are persecuted,
not for people travelling through several safe countries to the one of their choice.

It's their own cultures that creates the problems they're running from, and they bring that misery with them when they refuse to change and integrate.

Italy closing its borders to illegal immigrants will work. Australia did exactly that. it worked.

If they are secular, and thus will integrate, we wouldnt be having much of a debate in europe. But the immigration has only led to segregation, lowered trust and thus tension. Can we have a proper debate about that? About who arrives and how they are??

It's very important that you have complete documents before entering eu. Its unfair for those people struggling and following the rules of eu just to enter the country. If that so it's better they close the borders so nobody can enter without complete and legal documents. Every countries has each laws and rules to follow if you want to enter to any country you wish you would like, then comply all the neccesary documents period.
