Think we definitely need a takedown/budget ball comparison

You really should've review the "less known" balls such as the Puma Orbita, the new Kipsta Ligue1 ball, the UEL Molten ball or the Voit Liga mx ball

As a Dane I grew up with Select footballs. They also invented the 32 panel football, so they are very competent when it comes to making a superb traditionel football.

Select balls are characterised by not being special in any particular direction. They are allround sensible and to a large extent extremely predictable and with a gentle degradation of performance. The only downside is that one cannot make it do unexpected stuff.

The best example is probably the match between Denmark and Portugal 2011 in Parken, Copenhagen - and that (very beautiful) freekick goal scored by Christiano Ronaldo. One can tell from the flight path that it is a Select ball. It doesn't have the weird kinks found in the Jubilani "football".

Select balls are really good. I find it hard to go for other options after using them for many years now.

Josh, next time compare the air retention and the air filling "valve" of the balls. Nike's problem is related to the valve (don't know the correct word here), it doesn't last too long and before failing completely to retain air, it leaks air too easily compared to adidas (in between days). I believe adidas has the best valve, it is "exposed" on the surface of the panel, while Nike has it inside/hidden/under the panel

Best part of Select is that they still use stitching, right? I still miss the Nike Incyte balls, the best balls ever, which had stitching and very standard panels like the Select's.

Thanks for the video (but Puma could be here too hehe)

You forgot about texture! How grippy or slippery they are I think is super important to most players. We manipulate the ball very often with our studs or drag or spin it with our instep and out step. I hate a slippery ball, and that select looks like it might be the most slippery out of the bunch. I have the Nike and has great grip cuz of those ridges, and I’ve messed around a little with the two adidas in a shop, and the al rihla seems light and very grippy with the texture it has, the champions league is ok but doesn’t grip as well as the Nike particularly using your studs.

We've been playing with Select for many years in our Adult 11v11 league and 100% agree.

Be careful with the Adidas UCL ball. I have last year’s version, and the stitches on the “stars” starts to come apart after 10-15 uses on artificial turf. Also the graphics across the ball will start to peel even faster than that. I’ve bought around 10 OMBs over the last few years and it is easily the worst.

The Norwegian League are using Select as matchball. Before that it was each clubs sponsor who stood for the matchball in games. And what about Mitre? Never used it myself
