Lomu, the greatest rugby player of all time bar none. And the most exciting. I say that as an England supporter who watched in stunned disbelief as Lomu scored 4 tries against England in the semi final of the World Cup in 1995.

Never before or since Lomu retired have I seen a player with his power, pace, handling ability, who could side step beautifully off either foot and most impressively, his outstanding rugby intelligence. A man who always played for the team.

He will always be remembered fondly as long as this game is played.

I remember watching this game with my Whanau, live on TV.
What an awesome display of running rugby, this is how rugby is supposed to be played.
Both teams made this one of the greatest games in rugby history.
Jonah Lomu, Tana Umaga, Christian Cullen, George Gregan, Stephen Larkham, Stirling Mortlock...great names from a golden era.

I remember touring the garden route of south africa as a young man....then waking up early to watch this game with my were in awe at the level of rugby in this south african supporters we were always supporting the team that was losing and it changed so many times in the match of the greatest games ever for sure! a day that lives in my memory forever

This was named “The Test Match made in Heaven” a roller coaster of emotion - each team firing, close finish and a game winning try in the last seconds. All of this in front of 109K fans. Yes, this is the greatest!

I was lucky to be there on the night. Amazing atmosphere. And even though we lost, there was almost disbelief by both Aussie and Kiwi supporters alike at what we had just witnessed. The train back to the city from the stadium was an experience in itself, hakas, anthems, smiles galore, rugby!

At that time the Tri Nations was like watching the NBA or the BPL. The level was so high and Australia vs NZ was the the equivalent of Brazil-Argentina in football.
