I did stumble upon it. It was raining and the cinema was open. "Oh, those 2?, I'll watch". Great way to see it.

Yeah, I went into it knowing what it was and I loved it. We know how good both the leads are - wonderfully acted. Heartbreaking stuff. Loved every minute. Also helped me win an argument with the wife; the best way to crack an egg.

I was looking forward to this as my first cinema trip of the new year and happily, really liked it.

I love Marks’s idea of a “stumble upon” movie…. Trouble is we all have so much info now it’s hard for that to happen!

The non-linear narrative actually added to the emotional drive for me

Glad to found out that the merry-go-round horse is indeed in the movie.

We live in linear time. I think the timeshift actually stopped me caring about the characters in a way that it wouldn't have done if I'd followed them in the order they met.

I know the sort you mean. My cinema going experiences tend to be going to my local theatre with a friend or two and watching whatever happens to be on. I like blockbusters sometimes but I find hype tends to kill rather than spark excitement in me. I get excited to go to the theatre rather than specifically for what it is that'll be on.

3.5 feels exactly right, although I think without the performances Pugh and Garfield deliver, it would probably be 2 stars.

Unfortunately, I waa disappointed. Not my cup of tea and I think Pugh and Garfield are great. Past Lives was something else entirely.

I enjoyed it, warm and well acted, sad bits were v moving etc... but was it really just me who mistakenly assumed, from the trailer, that the whole film hinged on the car crash and that some kind of heart-tugging ghostly rom-com scenario would follow the amusing hospital scene? Turns out her ploughing a car into him is incidental to the plot. Minimal laughs too. Not what I expected at all.

A long winded way of saying it's a Sunday film.

I’ll probably see it within the next couple of weeks but ngl, this disjointed timeline trope (in film and TV) is beginning to get a bit old.

Such a boring film, very disappointed. If you get good actors together at least have a good story.
