Sadly, real life has taught me that "I want everyone to be as miserable as I am" is actually a fairly common motivation for people. In that sense, the Asthma Monster is actually one of Marvel's more realistic villains, at least as motivation goes.

"I once foiled the Red Skull when I was a stand-in for the Easter Bunny." You know, that's just dumb enough that I believe that at some point in time, that has happened.

It's weird to see a PSA comic that starts in a school and not have anyone mention being just back from vacation.

For some reason the voice acting combined with this line made me burst out laughing.

That A team joke made me realize we need a A-Team and Captain America crossover. Not because it’ll be awesome, but because it’s a matter of national security!

I love the way Cap's holding up his finger as the Asthma Monster rants in one panel. It just looks like he's trying to interject.

"Um... Uh... Excuse m-- You're doing this because of--? I have questions...!"

This comic holds a special place in my heart. It's the first comic I ever owned. It was a free comic given away when I went to my doctor to get my weekly allergy shots.

It wouldn't be far off to say that this comic is one of the reasons Captain America became my favorite Marvel hero as a kid.

I remember roleplaying this guy at a superhero RP, and I tried to develop him more as a character. A guy who got a dumb start as a villain, but had huge potential to be a real threat if he could get over his asthma obsession. Also he was the Tinkerer's protege, because the Tinkerer is cool.

Ah, well that explains why the episode was late getting out, you had to slip into the Zombie vs Chef battle to get your recording equipment and set everything up.

TIME FOR BACKSTORY...

Not sure about the timing, but in the mid-80's, Captain America did set up a hotline so people could contact him about emergencies. A government screw up sent him 40 years of back pay since he'd never technically had ever been discharged from the army. I think the fact that they hired others to be Captain America played into it as well as they never declared him dead, either.

The Commission tried to use it as leverage to get him to work for them during the whole John Walker / The Captain period. Since he knows rich people, he borrowed the money and paid back the government.

For someone who has chronic bronchitis, this is pretty hype. And while it's taken to a silly level, I do recall feeling like the Asthma Monster as a kid, when I had to use a small breathing machine to take medicine several times during the day at day care. I feel like this might have actually been written by someone who had asthma, or else someone who was very informed on what it was like. Pretty good for PSA Hell.

Captain America actually did have a van he used in the comics when he went on a sort of tour across the USA and as a mobile base of operations.
