"The Oregon Backcountry Discovery Route (ORBDR) is a 750-mile, multi-day off-pavement ride designed for adventure and dual-sport motorcycles. Starting in the high deserts of the southeast and exploring north through ancient pine forests and into the rugged mountains of the Cascade Range, challenges include lava rocks, silt, sand, and arduous mountain roads. From sagebrush steppe and hot springs, to caverns and glaciated volcanoes, riders are guided into remote territories that reveal many of the state’s natural wonders, providing prime sightseeing and recreational opportunities. With stunning views throughout and terrain that is certain to test your riding skills and endurance, the ORBDR is one of the best ways to discover the backcountry of Oregon."

Hello!

I'm Brady, AKA Mountainman, I've been a soldier, ski bum, police officer, government worker, photographer, and all around nomad. Now I travel on my motorcycle, make videos, and share them with the world. Along the way I do dumb stuff off road, camp, fly drones, take pictures, learn about culture and history and do my best to take you with me.

In early 2022 I set off on my motorcycle Yennefer (2021 Tenere 700) for an adventure with no set destination or timeline. Come along with me and let’s see what will happen as I try to ride until I can't.

Bike: Yamaha Tenere 700
Luggage: Mosko Moto Scout Panniers, Backcountry Duffle, and Hood tankbag
Navigation: Carpe Iter Tablet and Drive Mode Dashboard 2
Cameras: GoPro Hero 11, Hero 9, GoPro Max, GoPro Hero 8, Skydio 2, DJI Mavic Air 2
Gear: Adventure Spec Jacket/Armor/Gloves/Pants/Base Layers, Alpinestars Toucan boots, Arai XD4.

Just got done with the route 2 weeks ago. I did it on my KTM 690 Rally. Been riding off road bikes for 40 plus years did the original TAT several years ago. Nonetheless this BDR was a tough one. Specially sections 1 and 2. Glad I did it and will cherish these memories for the rest of my life. It was good going thru your video and reminiscing the route. Thanks and I hope your riding plans come to fruition.

Good video! Really helping to quench my desires to get back on the road for this season’s BDRs. I’m curious what you carry in your front mounted side bags (Kriega 6L just like mine I think?)? For me, Right side is tool kit, spare tire, rope. Left side 2L of spare fuel in MSR bottles (which have now molded themselves to crash bars 😂), spare tire. Really handy keeping the weight nice and low.

Great video, thanks! I'm trying to decide if I need to bring chain lube for this route. Did you feel the need to attend to the chain?

For what it is worth, I have a Gen 3 KLR. I was not happy with it. I felt like I could not get out of the way of assholes coming way to fast from behind. It is also heavy for my 68 yrs.
After watching you for a few videos( even through I have watched about everything). I fill it in all I need. Was thinking of trading into something lighter, and still may. I only have a little over 4000 miles and believe it has become better to ride at 70 ish. Could be I am just more used to it.
Just wanted u to know u have madee feel better about my bike.

Hello. I have a concern before attempting my first bdr. When you get to a town between sections and you have to shop for supplies, how do you keep your gear from getting stolen of your motorcycle while you’re inside the store?
