Tempo sells an 8 pin Banjo now. You can also test poe with it using a multi meter with alligator clips.

Awesome suggestion for the cradlepoint hotspot test! These cradlepoints can be pretty pricey. I've done similar testing by connecting my laptop to my phone's 4G hotspot then bridging my network adapter and my WiFi adapter. Doing this effectively turns the network adapter of my laptop into a connection to my mobile network allowing me to perform the same testing.

15:30 I actually use my laptop instead of the cradlepoint, connect the laptop to my cell hotspot and share the connection thru my ethernet port.

A long time ago when I was in school they taught us how to do packet capture by setting our ethernet card into something called promiscuous mode? We could then wait for the others in the classroom to log into Windows and then we could capture that data and analyze and find their password. Is this mirroring device similar? And could you do this without a hub if you can run your PC ethernet in promiscuous mode?

A cheaper option for port mirroring switch is the Netgear GS305E they are $24.99 as of the writing of this comment. It's a managed smart switch so you will need to set up the port mirror yourself but there's videos on YouTube showing how to do it and shouldn't take all of 5 minutes.

You don't need a LAN tap to do a packet capture. Lol.
