I like the realism in the whole scene and especially the spin. Amanda doesn’t just stay in one straight line and level as she’s being spun, but fluctuates through the air, from up, to down and up again. Also when she’s released the height that she goes to and the realistic way she falls to the ground is kinda scary.

I remember waiting to see how this scene was done and compare it to the first Matilda film, and putting my hands over my mouth after watching it. Very different but also very good. Someone poured their heart and soul into emphasizing the physics, it was so quick and violent. 😂

i love how they use a real doll when she crashes into the bush, just like the stage show. it just makes it look so realistic and brutal, compared to her elegant float to the ground in the 1996 version.

i remember doing this as Trunchbull in a production i was in, i was genuinely blown away by the music and Emma’s performance.
My favourite part of this scene was the music and i was on the edge of my seat waiting for this specific part.
