I believe the original plan by Tresckow was for him and several other officers to jump up during lunch and personally gun down Hitler and his SS guards, however a few of those officers raised concerns about gunning down an unarmed Hitler so they switched the plan to a bomb. Would've been a hell of a sight if they went with the original plan.
