There are numerous reasons why Operation Valkyrie failed. In a dramatic turn of events, the assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler was planned during a meeting that was unexpectedly moved from an underground bunker to a wooden one above ground due to the hot weather. Claus von Stauffenberg, the orchestrator of the attack, detonated a bomb during the meeting, but Hitler miraculously survived with only minor injuries. It was because of the change of location that made the bomb less effective, as it was placed on the opposite side of a heavy oak table leg, which acted as a shield absorbing much of the blast. However, the conspirators faced a significant setback as they failed to effectively communicate and coordinate their actions. Stauffenberg and his accomplice, Lieutenant Werner von Haeften, left the scene assuming Hitler was dead, causing confusion and hesitation among other conspirators. Do you think these circumstances could’ve been avoided after all?
