Thanks for the reading ideas! You always make me smile. I'm glad your bun went south, as I think the low bun is very elegant. 💕💕

"Where is the Shorty police?" 🤣 That's the beauty of Shorty September -- it's up to you. I allow myself to go up to 250 but try to keep it around 225. You have some great-sounding choices. Also, sorry to hear things have been tough with your mom, your back (I'm with you on that!), and work.

" Where are the shoty police?" 😂 Love it! I need to take a look at my shelves to see what I can get in for this because I am trying to get my current tbr read first. All of these books sound so interesting.

Very interesting collection of shorties. I am putting most of them on my wishlist.

This looks like an interesting collection. I think I read The Good Women of China. Looking forward to hearing what you think about all of them.

Shorty September was started and is hosted by Siân and Bert from Pastory Time and is also co-hosted by Heather from Too Many Heathers.

Good luck with your pile of possibilities for Shorty September. I'm hoping to get a few done too.

Hi Britta, I have also been obsessed with Eve Babitz for many years. I learned so much about Los Angeles from her book, Eve's Hollywood. I might want to own a copy. Picture Brides are very well-known in Hawaii. I think I heard of that title. Aloha.

Hello, Britta! I’m new to your channel and am intrigued by your “shorty” list!
I just finished Death Comes for the Archbishop—my first Willa Cather but certainly not my last! The writing is gorgeous!

I’m also reading Slow Days, Fast Company for shorty September! Looking forward to hearing your views!

“The Buddha in the Attic” is very good. It’s told as fragments of omniscient observations - almost stream of consciousness. A good portion of it told the story of Japanese Americans being evacuated from their homes and being transported to internment camps in the American west during WWII.

I've just finished The Leopard Skin Hat by Anne Serre and thought it was fantastic. Thank you for pointing me towards another to look at.

I hope you enjoy The Buddha in the Attic, Julie Otsuka is one of my favourite writers. I've loved everything of hers I've read.
I added a couple of these to my want to read list so thanks for that.
I hope you have a good visit with your mother, hope she's doing well.

I may sneak in a few shorties but I'm focussing on books to read before I attend Festival America at the end of September. I'll be interested to hear what you think about The Buddha in the Attic. I read it with my Normandy Book Club a few years ago. I have The Wedding on my list as well. Sounds like a great list Britta. You got this because as you said where is the Shorty September police.😂Happy reading!

The Buddha in the Attic is one of my vest books of the year . Its written in questions, very thought-provoking.

These all sound like fascinating books. I'm all for Shorty September. Most of the books I buy to read these days are 200 pages or shorter. (Although I've been reading what I own lately, so several books I've been reading _are_ longer.)

My ability to read a book a day has faded over the years. I find myself reading more slowly these days.

New Directions is a favorite publisher. And they bring a lot of translated works into English.

What an interesting book selection! I have noted down a few for my wishlist ;) The Good Women of China is a punch in the stomach - it took me several days to go through, because although short, each chapter took a lot of digesting :(

❤📚❤️ I enjoyed seeing all of these shorter books, most I've not heard of.
I'll be reading Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton and The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. Also, for Spinster September, I'm reading The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark (which qualifies for Shorty September, bonus!).
Sipsworth by Simon Van Booy (240 pgs 😅 😉).
That's probably all I'll be able to do, as I'm also reading The Fortnight in September by R.C. Sherriff and September by Rosamunde Pilcher, because when else. 😁
