This is a great guide, but I’m unclear as to what the advantage is in smashing all your rocks versus smashing one, waiting until the next day for it to respawn in the rock garden (or not) and then repeat. That way, every day, you’ve always got rocks to mine including that precious money rock.

An important thing to note, you don't have to have 8 spaces around your rock for it to spawn, i accidentally busted a rock and the next day the game decided that right in the middle of my produce garden was a fantastic place for my replacement rock... even though I have so much room on the island itself. I was only able to get 2 resources from it, unless I moved 6 veggies (3 on each side, it spawned in the pathway between my garden rows)... but thank you for the tips, at least now I can temporarily put a rock path down in those spaces between the veggies to keep it from happening

Pro tip: Put your rocks near corners. When you hit your rock, you slide ever so slightly. Do that 7 times, and you're likely to have moved off target, and you risk your 8th swing missing and your 8th resource going un-mined. If you have a fence or hedge or something acting as a corner to keep your lateral AND medial sliding from happening, you get 8 drops every single time.

So when I go to mine the two center rocks, I use the opening of the hedge as well as dig a hole to create a corner that doesn't spit me out anywhere. Makes for 6 fully-mined rocks, every single time.

So, I followed all the rules, smashed my rocks, covered my island with mannequins (more than enough), I have the open squares of grass for the rocks surrounded by 8 spaces all around each square. For two days they haven't spawned where I want them, and I've looped around my island a ton of times to see if they spawned elsewhere and haven't found any. I have three that spawned where I want. Any ideas of why the rest aren't spawning?

I’ll bet you could apply that to areas you didn’t want a rock to spawn. Sometimes you have to break them because you’re remodeling and then they spawn back in a bad spot.
