Commercial code is 7 inches max height with an 11 inch tread, and residential is 7 3/4 with a 10 inch tread in most cities.

SUPER THANK YOU. Oh how I hate some uploaders using some stupid background music while they are trying to explain something tech to people that need to learn from. Is it perhaps, because they are hiding their own incompetence? I don't know. Perhaps someone should make a video of "How the Utube Teaching videos should be and why!"
Well done friend!.

I've watched a number of stringer videos and many don't get to the point, yours does!  However you should have included how to get the length of the stringer.

I think most of the answers you're looking for can be found on my website under the do-it-yourself section. Go to the website and at the top you will see a list of website chapters. On the left-hand side you will see the word do-it-yourself in between treads and videos. Let me know if you have any more questions or if one of them didn't get answered.

Nice video also for the number of risers you start with the higher number/round up because you cant have .66 of a stair

Thanks for your videos. My question relates to the real world situation where you have carpet TO BE INSTALLED on the top floor and (say) timber floorboards TO BE LAYED over the timber subfloor on the lower floor. My question is twofold-
1.Do you measure the overall fall from the surface of the carpet to the surface of the floorboards.
2. Are the stairs installed BEFORE or AFTER the timber floor (in my case on the lower floor) is installed. Or are the floorboards layed after (and around) the stairs? This will affect greatly from where I measure my overall rise.
Thanks

Typically, is fireblocking required at a landing or stringer where the entire underside is drywalled living space? Think 1st to 2nd floor stairs with landing making a 180 turn. Drywalled stringers, walls and bottom of landing.

Is it best to round down or is it best to round up, I saw you round it down from 4.6 to 4 on this? When do you round up? Or do you round up?

I have an elderly friend who does not want a ramp but cannot handle regular stairs anymore. The distance from her driveway to the deck is 6ft with a height of about 24 inches to the top of deck. Can I make steps that are deep enough for her walker and her to stand comfortably on? 24 x 36 inch steps with a short rise that she can lift her walker up onto the next step push forward then step up herself? Maybe make the steps as three individual platforms with four legs. Each platform would be taller than the next then hook them all together at the legs.

Hello, I would like to have each steps at least two feet long, so riser of about 5" and then a long step. Is that different than the steps you are figuring here?

Everything seems to be loud and clear abt the rise 8 inches max.

But whats about the run? 10 inches max is Ok??

One of my fears as a beginer is how to make the first cut (the teethsaw no problem). The problem is at the lowerfloor and the upperfloor.

I need to make an outside stair of 40 inches total rise and dont know what kind of lumber buy. Can you help me???

Btw, your English is very understandable, even for like a Mexican.

Thks 4 respond.

José.
