Okay, once again. George, the IT guy did not "refuse" to delete the footage. He said "I don't think I have the rights." Plural, George (not "I don't think I have the right"). "Rights" is IT admin speak for "file permissions." You can think of it as meaning "I don't think my password gives me technical access to delete that file." So, the IT guy was not being some kind of moral or legal superhero. He was stating a very mundane fact. I have been seeing this misunderstanding of that interaction across every news network and it is driving me nuts.

I feel bad for De Oliveira. He worked there 20 years.. long before "the boss" got into politics, and probably never heard two words from Trump like "Good job" or "Thank you". I retired from doing maintenance (started at apartments making $1.60/hr, ended after 35 years of fixing semiconductor capital equipment), and all we want to do is fix stuff. The guy looked shell-shocked being led into court, like he was "walking on the Green Mile" to be executed.
