These videos are so helpful for beginners like me. I would absolutely love to learn about brush shapes, sizes and how you avoid uneveness of the color when working with watercolors.

In defense of the markers: they're a WHOLE different thing that takes years of practice, but if you have that practice under your belt, you can do mind-blowing things with them. Please don't give up on the water color markers!

As a watercolor marker user I almost cried at that drawing you did 😭 it's not horrible of course, but one can def see that it's not your usual medium

i would recommend watercolor crayons. They work great giving both saturation and transparent look. They also don’t leave behind those initial marks. I used them to create a realistic painting of my dog and I would say it was one of my best works!

Thank you so much for the video! I always had the Faber-Castel watercolor pencils when I was growing up and never knew how to use them properly. Now I'm finally able to use them as intended.

I use the marker directly on the paint palette and add water when I want other colors that only my markers have, but I have many watercolors so usually it's just out of being lazy and not wanting to mix my colors haha

Watercolor pencils help me so much with my paintings. I use them for fine details and shading, and blend them out to create depth and detail. If I want to add extra shiny reflection on items or eyes, I’ll even dip the tip of my white pencil in water and then dab it on so it’s more opaque. Such a great tool!!!

I actually really like water color markers and have been using them for a while! They work really well if you just don’t apply the marker directly on the thing you’re painting. Like, I’ll put a few dots of the marker in the margins of my sketch book, pick up the color from the paper with my paint brush, and then paint my sketch from there if that makes sense. If you do apply the marker directly onto the picture, just be sure to use it sparingly and the marks left behind from it shouldn’t be nearly as bad, and it’s easier to shade that way. They’re really great, they just don’t work quite like traditional water colors, but there are some work-arounds for that.

I remember being introduced to watercolor pencils in elementary. I have 2 sets of them and they are now my favorite medium.

I use mostly water color markers and traditional in pan. Just smear the marker ink on a smooth metal/plastic surface and mix it with water. I like how vibrant the colors are. Plus i have a few nice shades as markers i never seem to mix right so it helps too

You should definitely try the derwent inktense watercolour pencils, they are my absolute favourite watercolour pencils 😁🌻

Honestly, its all about technique with the pens. I use watercolour pens for my art and its about how you use them that changed the results and may even give results that youd prefer over another method. ❤️
