This is great! I've always had a lot of trouble with Prisma colors despite the fact we use them a lot in my art classes so this is really helpful

When I saw Worf I yelled “WOW!” I didn’t think I could ever meet another Trekkie in this day and age lol

I would love a detailed tutorial on how to blend with color pencils! This is also the first time that I've seen this technique of pressing hard on the paper. I usually only see this technique on oil pastels.

I like how he always talks about having fun with art. It’s easy for people to feel burnt out with art or for them to forget why they do it. So a reminder to have fun is definitely needed

Recently something in me clicked. I haven’t drawn or done a lot of art in maybe 6 years or so? I’ve been having a serious mental block about not liking what I’ll make before I ever even start drawing. Suddenly yesterday after feeling inspired from watching the colored pencil stream, I started drawing and when I inevitably started thinking “this is pointless, ” another part of my brain said “but you can make it look like anything you want!” And I was off to the races. I drew for like 3 hours straight last night lol!! So thank you for being so inspiring and for guiding me back into art!! 🙏🏼✨ And of course, I love your work so much!

Seeing all the stuff you drew in your teens tells me all I need to know that we could be good friends.

This man taught me more than my art teacher, and that says a lot about the education system

As someone who does realism I use a trick where I colour in circles, lightly. Then I add whatever colours on and start blending like that. Easiest and quickest way to blend it without having the struggle of worrying about the nasty lines that always appear.

For a smoother texture try blending them in a circular motion I find that you don't have to press AS hard when doing it that way, but it's been awhile so I could be wrong

Pro tip, use medium to thick vellum or smooth paper and/or use odorless mineral spirits or alcohol and a brush to blend. You won’t have to press hard because the paper isn’t textured, which allows for more detail and doesn’t require as much sharpening. There are special products to apply archival white or you could preserved highlights by leaving it blank or using an exact knife to carefully scrape off pencil layers and use an opaque white like Derwent Drawings Chinese White (oil based pencils tend to be on the translucent side, so they can’t cover other pigments that well and take a lot of layers).

I’ve also heard of building up the layers of colour to blend. But I really like your style and how you make art, you’re such a huge inspiration for me recently with my art. I feel like I’m improving and I’ve only started one drawing, but I’m going to do more art, and now I don’t care if it’s not perfect, it’s about having fun.
