Hey guys, I'll be uploading a video soon that explains what has been going on with my life, why I stopped making videos and responding to comments, and what my plans are for this channel.

Seeing the good that these videos have done for you all, and seeing the kind comments, even after I basically dropped off the face of youtube honestly makes me tear up. You all deserve better, and I am sorry.

I do not deserve your forgiveness for my inactivity, and failing to deliver on my promises in a timely fashion. I still have plans to make a 3D series and a git series, and want to start working again soon.

Love you all,
-Ben

Ben I still think about you once a month and recommend your channel to beginners whether they're looking to learn game programming specifically, or programming as a whole due to your series giving us such strong fundamentals.

You taught me how to do 3d renders in OpenGL in highschool and now 5 years later I'm a professional graphics programmer. Hope you're doing alright :)

@Ben Arnold: I understand you feel like you have a huge responsibility for adding more content and you probably feel bad about how long it's been since you last uploaded a video. Like many viewers, I can't thank you and many other content creators for sharing valuable knowledge with the world.

We are all human, and although I don't know your exact situation, things happen. I hope you are able to come back soon and add more content, but whatever it is that's going on, take care of yourself first man. Good luck with everything; it's because of awesome people like you and so many other brilliant programmers I've met that I've gained an interest in Game Engines. Not sure yet if I'd like to work as an Engine developer specifically, but I'd at least love to learn more about game engine systems.

200th comment. RIP Ben. Your graphics series taught me surface level OpenGL when I was 17 (finishing high school). Now I’m 22 and am a professional graphics programmer. Really hope you see this comment although I think you already know how many people you’ve helped. Good luck guys 🙂

Returning here now as it is almost 10 years ago that i started learning how to program. I didnt really see much progress during the first 1.5 years, but after i found your channel i started picking up things super fast. I got better at math as a result of the problem solving skills i got from programming.

Next week im handing in my bachelor project in software engineering, I made it as a maintainer of an opensource project with more than 10 million downloads. All because of your tutorials. I dont know where i would be today if it wasnt because of your. I just wish you had continued your journey from back then.

Anyways, i dont know if you will ever see this, but if you do. I hope you are doing well out there today ben. Thanks for everything.

Hi, just wanted to stop by and say thank you for all your great videos. I hope you will be having a beautiful Christmas. It's amazing that you work at ArenaNet now - was my dream company for a long time (and still is!) :) I hope your job is not too stressful and you can find some time to relax. I love how hardworking you are and I hope I can become as good as you someday. Your tutorials definitely helped a lot. xoxo

Damn!! If only Patreon was around at the time you were making these videos, woulda been hella easier to focus on these videos full-time. PLEASE NEVER SHUT-DOWN YOUR CHANNEL, OR TAKE DOWN THESE TUTORIALS. I was unable to go through all your tutorials, which I regret. It 2020, I still think I still wish I could make out a month or two to binge through them from the very beginning. But man's got bills to pay. I'm gonna introduce my kids to your channel when they're born and as early as possible. Have a successful life man.

Hey Ben! Still planning on doing any new tutorials? Would love to get a proper explanation on how to get started with 3D!

Hey Ben, You have been saying throughout the series that this is "a practice engine". I was wondering if you could do your final 2D video on Engine Flesh Out, where you either go over things that need to be added for the engine to be a better 2D engine, or do a tutorial on how to implement those. Either way I would love it if you did this because I really enjoy 2D, just as much as 3D. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love this as an ending for the 2D tutorials. Love the tutorials and can't wait to get to 3D!!! Thanks Ben!!

Ben, just wanted to say huge thanks to you for making these tutorials, you're an awesome teacher and so much pleasure to listen to! I've got a couple of questions for you. How long have you been studying C++? Have you read any books, dedicated to it? And if so, please recommend one.
