It's a hypnotizing synth opening. I'm sorry you guys didn't care for the beginning but I think it's iconic. You know what song it is when it starts.

I love how Noel Gallagher of Oasis described The Who: "Well they're all playing lead aren't they? Lead guitar, Lead vocals, Lead bass, Lead drums. All at the same time."

Classic rock! This should be part of everyone's cultural education. Not required, but definitely suggested. Several other great Who songs: "Won't Get Fooled Again, " "Love Reign O'er Me, " "Behind Blue Eyes, " "Who Are You?" and more.

I think the long intro is supposed to build anticipation, and wear out the listener a bit, so that when the song really starts, it's a jolt to the system.

I was 17 when this Who LP was released in summer 1971. It was a big part of our lives. EVERYONE of us in HS really dug the lengthy, trippy intro. NOBODY thought it was too long. (Keep in mind this is 1971 - when long, extended pieces were "in".) And nobody had ever heard this unusual - at the time - electronic sound before (an analog ARP synthesizer) - in fact it was the first time EVER on a record, and used by Pete Townshend to great, immortal effect! Today, one of the most iconic song intros, ever😊!!!

The intro is brilliant, because without it, you wouldn't even notice the sound in the background. Once you become familiar with the song, hearing those first bars creates tension and anticipation of the music to come.

This song was used as the theme for CSI: NY. “Don’t Get Fooled Again” was used for CSI: Miami. “Who Are You” was the original CSI’s theme song.

You guys HAVE GOT to do "LOVE REIGN O'ER ME". It's extremely powerful and beautiful and hard hitting!

That look Amber gives when she notices J getting excited over a song perfectly encapsulates this channel. It's just fun and love from wall to wall.

The Who has some amazing songs! Baba O’Riley is definitely one of them.

Over 50 years and I don't believe The Who have released a bad song. Pete and Roger still have it.

The Who is a very deep dive. One of the cornerstones of 70's Rock.

Jay has come such a long way musically! I think you can appreciate this much more now than you could when you first started this journey! I used to laugh every time you prefaced your reactions by saying you "weren't a big rock fan"... Your horizons have broadened considerably as well as your appreciation of the musicianship required to produce music organically as opposed to electronically.

“Who Are You?” is an absolute must. I guarantee you’ve heard it out and about somewhere, even if you don’t realize it.

RIP to my best friend Danny who introduced me to this cassette tape. Yes you read that, cassette tape. Going to the Long Island beach in the morning cutting school having some mother nature. Those were days of my youth that I cherish. Stupid colon cancer took away Dan. A Navy Veteran. Miss you buddy, will see you someday.

Thank you for your reaction to this song! Awesome.

There's a song on this album that shows a bit of the softer side of the Who. "Behind Blue Eyes" is so good too!

Another great British Invasion band (Beatles, Rolling Stones, Animals, Kinks, Herman's Hermits) Man, I am grateful God let me be born in 1950 so I could hear them as they arrived!

Keith Moon (drummer) is such a force in their songs. From his timing to his rolls and fills are truly sublime. He would play with so much force and passion they would literally duct tape his headphones on so they wouldn’t fly off his head.

It warms my heart to see young people like you enjoying and appreciating the talent and uniqueness of the music I grew up with. I saw The Who perform this live at Madison Square Garden in the 70's when this album Who's Next first came out.
Something "I HOPE" I'll never unless dementia kicks in!! 😰

One of the best bands. Saw them several times and never was disappointed.

OMG, you _MUST_ listen to "Behind Blue Eyes." It's been remade a number of times by different bands, but none surpasses the original by _The Who._
