I can't believe that all these years I've been knitting the wrong size. I got your book and I said to myself I know my size, I'm a medium. Turns out I'm a large! My first basic sock fits better already!! Thank you!!

The only thing wrong with your videos is that I have to wait a whole week for the next one! You are spot on with all you teach. I’m doing the afterthought heel on my current pair of socks (from your book of course!).

I always throw mine through machine on delicate and hang dry. My husband used to have a laundry service at work and he kept brining home wire hangers so I bent a whole bunch into sock blockers for each size in our family so I always hang on those to dry when come out of Machine.

😬🧶🪡🪡 : Me wondering where my anxiety is at, knitting at 11 stitches per inch.

Question: When your tension is too loose, why not just go down a needle size rather than pulling on the yarn? I ask for two reasons:
1. if you want to do colour work or fair isle, then you need to practice loose knitting and have less tension to avoid puckering
2. Needles are easier to change than hand memory.
However, if there is a good reason to not do this, then I'm really keen to know.

Loved the video loads of helpful info. I agree on the variegated yarns, something I was told early in knitting was "either you do the work or the yarn does" that is if you spend a lot of time on something complicated dont do it on very complicated yarn! It's been a handy tip.

I have been knitting lots of basic socks since I received your book. That really is a great tip! I have discovered that I like the fit better with a heel flap and gusset and I go back and forth between magic loop on one pair and 9 inch circulars on another. I also discovered that my tension is better when I knit English style, though I have been a continental knitter for years. My sock knitting has improved greatly. I am so grateful for your wisdom and instructions. Thank you ❤❤❤

Hey Summer, your socks are absolute eye candy!! Your basic sock video helped me check off an item on my lifetime bucket list- to knit my first pair! I’d also love to see a video about kids’ socks- I don’t know how to adapt a pattern for my daughter’s little feet. Thank you! 🎉

I have been knitting Continental (with the yarn in my left hand) for 20+ years and I find that my tension gets looser the longer I've been knitting. I struggle to get more than 6 stitches per inch without going down to a size 00 or smaller - which is not fun! I have found that switching to English style knitting, with the yarn in my right hand, is the only way I can get a good tension for socks.

I just finished your I’m So Basic sock. My first ever sock. And I’m wearing them now. Turned out great. Well, not bad anyway. I have big old guy feet. I scaled your XL from 80 to 100 stitches. But I’m excited to try again.

I ordered your book and it arrived I am going to follow your advice and start with the basic socks in the beginning of the book. You're right, too, basic doesn't have to be boring. Yarn choice will make a boring sock into a masterpiece. Thank you for a book that will be continually used. I can't wait to have a drawer full of beautiful socks!
