What Is Medicare Part C?

Medicare Part C (also known as Medicare Advantage) is an alternative to Original Medicare. Offered by private insurers, these plans are legally required to give you coverage that's equal to (or greater than) Medicare Parts A and B.

The primary downside is network restrictions. While Original Medicare is accepted by the vast majority of providers nationwide, a Medicare Advantage plan will likely come with restrictions.

The upsides, however, include out-of-pocket maximums as well as potential additional coverage for hearing, vision, and dental.
