Today we are talking about different steels and why they are different. And is cases why they are priced different, steels rely on the quality of heat treatment even 2 of the same steels will perform very different with different heat treatments. And depending on what you want your steel to do will depend on which steel is best for you. today we are talking about 5 very different steels from one another, BUT SOME TIMES IF YOU DONT KNOW ABOUT STEELS, COMPANIES WILL SELL YOU LESSER STEELS FOR MORE MONEY AND EVEN WORSE WITH POOR QUALITY HEAT TREATMENT.
8cr13mov, aus10, d2, 14c28n, cruwear, and 20cv steel.

Finally someone calling out that heat treatment is the most important thing.

But but what about you S steels? S30v, S35, S90... 's.... 🤷 Why does Benchmade mostly use S30?

VERY concise and more than enough for 98% of all knife users. The other 2% are not just collectors but knife steel enthusiasts. Looking at you, Jared and Pete.

I have a coated Kershaw Leek in 14c28n. That thing won't rust for anything. I love it. Super underrated steel.

Always dope Jared !! I appreciate you 👊🏼

Sounds biased, D2 is not "very" corrosive. Its a semi stainless with 12% Chromium. Holds a sharper edge than 14c28n

I love Spyderco knives!!! Mine take an incredibly stupid sharp edge and lasts for a very long time.

Noticed not many noted your concise hand movement. Seeing it when talking about Spyderco's heat treat was satisfying.

My Kershaw knife exactly like the first one you showed, has stayed sharp for me for good long while

Just bought my first Spyderco knife. It's the Yojimbo 2. Never really loved the way they looked, but I'm going to give it a shot and see how I like it

I got that 14c28n civiv after I saw your vid on it. Best knife I’ve ever owned. I look forward to sharpening it but I have yet to need to do that.

what about 154cm? how good is that steel. I've read it's really good, but I'd rather get a second opinion. Btw, I'm hopefully going to be getting my own first knife soon. QSP Penguin is what I've got my eyes set on.

nice video! you jam packed alot of good info, and opinions on the steel types. think you will do another one with other steel variations? there are so many out there and especially company specific steels.
would love to see what you think of cold steel and some others!

We work in the commercial diving industry and we all use Spyderco knives on the surface. Green River knives for all underwater applications.
