I love the survival bucket idea for a vehicle. A standard 5 gallon bucket with a lid. Dribble some paint on it. Make it look like a contractors bucket. It won't draw any attention, and is less likely to get stolen.

I would recommend adding TP too, for when the food has ran its course. If you are in a situation that you need that (flooding, hurricane, etc.) not only will it be a crappy situation (see what I did there) but chances are your TP will be ruined. Two weeks is a long enough time without proper waste disposal to get something like cholera.

Looks like a nice kit for the money. The water filtration system is a great addition as well as the cook pot and stove with fuel. I understand that it not an al inclusive kit, but it's got the basics to sustain a person over a period of time provided that they can have access to water.

Spoons would be necessary if you put it in the car and leave, and I would add salt and pepper. Minor things to make a bad situation a little easier. I bet the food tastes good. Freeze dried food has come a long way since the 1970's. Good choice Brian. It is easy to say "I would have put..." In an emergency, I would love to have this with me.

Basic flatware would be good as well. Folding down bowls and cups may raise the price but with it.

Thanks for the review. Based on what you've shown, it looks like this is more geared toward the "ice storm" type scenario where you're stuck in the house without power. If you get this to toss in the trunk of the car, add a $5 hobo tool from walmart.

Live food don’t spoil, start raising guinea pigs ..

As herbivores, guinea pigs naturally feed on large quantities of forage such as grasses, legumes, weeds and herbs. But they can also be fed on kitchen scraps and are very good processors of waste. Adult guinea pigs weigh between 1 and 2 kg and can provide a family’s protein needs for a day, though the meat is enjoyed for its taste as well as its nutritional value. The meat contains more than 20% protein, which is higher than in chicken, beef, lamb or pork. And with only about 8% fat, it is also leaner than most other common meats. It is also rich in Omega 3 fatty acids and Vitamin B, and as such is a healthier as well as cheaper alternative to other meats.

“Chicken flavored” is only bullion cube flavored. No meat! Put that all together from grocery and discount mart. 5 gallon bucket and you’re good to go. One third the price.

No spoon or fork, most of the food is flavored rice or soup. No salt or tea/coffee. Akward to carry around if you have to bug out. One mylar survival bag? What shelter do you use for the other 13 days?
If I'm honest those bags dont look like 8 servings to me.
I think the idea is good but the average person could do better in their local supermarket, and you could tailor the food to your tastes.
Enjoy your video as always Brian.

I have to say you get a lot of bang for your buck at the price point. For Hurricane preparedness, my go-to MREs are from Mountain House, and those alone will set you back $85 or so, and not offer as many meals, calories or protein as this. I'm curious as to how they taste

Hi there, just at a glance this has lots of carbs but am I missing the protein source?

Should have someone try it out and see if it goes for the two weeks. doesn't look like it to me with out a lot of augmentation.

There are a few things that are not covered in addition to the knife. How do you eat the food or drink without a spork or a cup. You will also need a way to mix your food while cooking. Just a few other items you may want to include.

That kit looks nice, but don't have some of the food one would need in it. Just plain stuff which is hard to eat regularly and I would prefer to get my own food elsewhere and keep it where I can get to it when needed. The pot is nice to have, but if an emergency comes up people will have their own cookware handy and would not need another pot to clean. The water collection system is nice to have though and something everyone would need for an emergency to collect and purify their drinking water.

I didn't see any water in that kit. The filter is nice, but if you don't have a water source, then you don't have water.

Also, in my experience, that type of food takes a huge amount of water and fuel to cook. Usually about 10 minutes of boiling and it makes a meatless paste, much like the patriot storage food. I've never like the essential storage food for this reason. It takes a ton of water to clean it out as well.

Mountain house is much lighter and takes about 1/10th of the fuel to prepare. Also Contains meat.

Is this for running out of your house or is it for bugging in? I know a lot of people don't keep more than 1 or 2 days of food in their homes. (Shop for dinner every day) We have always had a minimum of a week's worth of food and now at least 2 months.

The food appeared to be multi-serving pouches. If it is just two people, what do you do with the left-overs while you are waiting for "normal" to be restored? Are there smaller packets in the larger ones?
