We wish our Civic Si was just a little faster. What's on your wish list for your car? Let us know in the comments!

I recently bought a 2023 Civic Si. I might have a bit of buyer's bias, but I love the car. It hasn't ever really felt slow or boring. I really like the fact that I can drive the car hard and still remain within street legal speeds. It really is just a fun car to have as a daily driver!

We own our SI since June 2022. Still love it as our daily driver family car. Excellent Mpg, enough room and when daddy is alone in the car it provides enough fun. Sure you can buy faster cars for the money but not better handling cars..

I have over 10k on my 2022 Civic Si and really like it. I’ve actually grown to like it more as I’ve used it. It isn’t about the power for me. It’s about having no utilitarian downside as a daily driver but adding fun factor that isn’t there with most cars. Wife sitting next to me surfing her phone, kids in the back, and I get to enjoy rowing through the tight 6 speed, whip around tight roads, and rev the little 1.5L through its range while still getting around 40mpg. I think the argument that it should completely split the difference between a normal Civic and the Type R isn’t solid reasoning because the price difference is only a few thousand above a normal civic while the Type R is a $10k+ premium over an SI. When taking cost into consideration, the SI sits perfectly between the normal Civic and the Type R. I’m happy with the power it makes especially since more power typically means worse mileage. It strikes a nice balance there.

I have a cdn version and can say it is an excellent affordable fun car. Power is fine, handling is very good. The car is a great commuter and great on gas to boot. I got mine with a small discount so pricing for me was great. Not a believer that anyone should pay over MSRP. Walk away and the problem will go away.

The fact that this car is de-contented compared with the Canadian model took it off my buy list.

I agree with the recommendation for the fix for the Si. But add two more things to the fix list. Fix the REV hang that drive me crazy and make the interior of the rear the same color as the front.

That's the problem. They "didn't buy the car." Honda loan it to them. Every Honda dealer is asking for $7-10k markup on the Si, $20-30k for the Type R.

The hp is actually 220 as shown by hondata on their dyno

I've only had my 23 Si for a week, but so far I love it. It's a great daily. Yeah not the fastest, but it think its plenty fast and fun to drive. I've had fast cars so I know what fast is. This car is just zippy enough to make it fun all while getting 40MPG.

Solid take. Although I would argue that our expectations aren't the problem, especially when you look at all the competitors. The VW gti has 240hp, and sure the Si has always trailed behind the gti, but never by that much. Its disappointing to see the civic si hp number go from 197 (2006) to 200 (2022) in 16 years!

Personally, I would prefer if they used some more lightweight materials/engineering in the Si and the Integra more than a power bump, including the option to nix the sunroof. That being said, I think it’s excellent as is.

They’re right: it’s all about expectations. I own a ‘23. Si owners (as well as other drivers) expect this car to be driven hard and fast. I bought it mainly for the six-speed but I’ve noticed that in order to keep up with traffic the car HAS to be driven hard; something I wasn’t expecting. If it had just a little more power it could be driven normally and the entire experience would be more enjoyable. I still love the car a lot, but I’m altering my driving habits to use it primarily on the freeway along with winding roads out of town.

$120 for an oil change for a tiny 1.5L?? My 5.0 cost me $56 for an oil change at Ford dealer. With 8.9qt of oil.

I want to like this car but it just doesn’t excite me. I had a 2009 Si and the fact that this car isn’t any faster is ridiculous. They should have 240hp in this thing by now. And the problem is the L15 is a weak motor and really can’t be reliably pushed much past stock without making windows in the block either, so simple bolt-ons and a tune isn’t gonna work for the long run either. So it’s basically keep it stock and a little bland but reliable or get a Type R. There really isn’t much other options, and that’s what sucks the most.

as an owner of a 22 SI, i can vouch that the ecu takes a little while to adjust to my driving style. however, rev-hang is barely noticeable at just over 10K miles. i think because you guys had so many people driving it, it likely made this seem worse for you due to the inability of the computer to adjust. just my two cents

I love the SI, but 35 more horsepower and heated seats would be much more compelling.

I really like the looks of the 11gen but they dropped the ball on everything else in this car. They took too much away from the 10gen especially in the USA. The Canadian model is more appealing. You guys hit the nail on the head about this is too close to a normal civic vs being the middle ground to the type R.

Love that color! Still not sure of the Accord/Audi hybrid look of the new Civic. I was just getting accustomed to the last generation's look.

According to the info in this video the best version is the so often bad mouthed 9th gen with the NA 2.4L K-series. (especially at sea level locations). The fastest with none of the dreaded turbo lag.
