i love that his parents built the greenhouse right outside his window?? that's such a beautiful wholesome way of giving him a whole sanctuary not just for his hobby but him also.

Respect to his parents for seeing his potential talent and giving him the space to develop it beginning in early childhood. Future parents, learn from this!

I think it’s not creepy that news reporter needs to stop hating

My favorite plant. Some may think they're creepy, but they're so cool!

Sometimes I get inital feelings that American news reporters' jobs are to make the public weaker to feelings of initial fears and disgust, and to destroy a real sense of wonder, amazement and adventure, but then I ponder more and realize I spend very little time watching the local news reports anymore, so I could only be reacting to just this and a few other reporter's styles, but snarky, dismissive comments are abundant in the media landscape, so I'm not sure if I'm just feeding my own prejudices or am ignoring all the good that modern reporting styles have done.

I love these plants! I’m currently winterizing my plant. Waiting for spring to come around. Even as a kid I’ve always had a fascination with these plants. Way to go mom n dad for supporting their young sons love of nature and plants.

Is it just me or would anybody else be tempted to buy like thousands of flys and let them loose in one of those greenhouse with cameras watching the whole thing to do a time lapse?

Omg! I love what his parents did. I would be sleeping in that greenhouse. Lol i started young too, but I have carnivores, tropics, a little Arizona, and well over 345 different plants in just my bedroom. Lol palms draping over our bed, Habibi, my Habicus loves to bloom indoors more than out, and she loves to sit with my Nepenthes. I love them all.

I’m surprised the record holder isn’t something like the B-52 cultivar or DC-XL

“Alien” is obvious but just perfect for a Venus flytrap.

I live in western NC, and it is about a 6-8 hour drive to the bogs between North and South Carolina, the only natural habitat for the Venus Flytrap. They are really hard to see if you don’t tread carefully if not at one of the overlook point. They are smaller than a pinky finger. The ones you see in the store have been modified to be more significant.

I wish they'd give a comparison of these venus fly traps vs. the average size ones. How are we supposed to be amazed if we can't tell how big they are?

Man! I was expecting a huge plant, not a regular sized VFT. 🤣
