If that snake is 6 feet long, that gentleman is 7.5 feet tall...Look at when he holds it straight up. Snake is 5.5 feet max.

I thought it was going to be a python size snake. Nah. Just a regular size rattle snake

Everyone needs to remember they can still bite hours after death

I'm a snake enthusiast of sorts. And I, like many others, hate when people senselessly kill them out of misguided fear, but I don't blame this man given the circumstances. It IS unfortunate for the snake, but to expect everyone to be educated on the behavior of venomous snakes is an unrealistic expectation. He saw what he thought was a risk to lives and he handled it. It's too bad, but this guy isn't some sort of evil person for doing it.

6ft? Did a fisherman measure it? Lol 😂 it’s maybe 4 1/2 ft at best judging by the tailgate and the gate panel.

He huge because he's old, he's old because snakes don't like to interact with humans...we see what happens when they do, rip

I remember when i was 10 years old at a park in Peoria, Illinois i was running up this hill at full speed until i seen what looked like a small pile of leaves. For some reason i stopped in my tracks about 5 ft away when i heard what sounded like locust. I realized it was a rattle snake coiled in striking position. Something's you never forget. I knew then they were venomous mostly from movies. I slowly backed away and walked another route. My mom was grilling hot dogs and burgers so i told her and all of the kids were told to get off the hill. They really are hard to see.

They're becoming increasingly rare. I can understand killing it under the circumstances. Slithering towards a church on a Sunday where worship services are in progress. But don't kill it otherwise.

A huge rattlesnake in a neighborhood is always gonna be killed. And I don’t blame anyone for that. 39 Florida native and rattlesnakes are not going extinct. I see them on the Job CONSTANTLY.

I had one at least that big in my yard in Sonora about 10 yrs ago and 6 seoerate juviniles over a summer incuding one in my house and one in my chicken coup and one in my well house/ laundry room THEY ARE HIDEOUS and i ended up MOVING after the 7th one I no longer live in that area
And FYI if you ever get bitten by one and the hospital doesnt have any Antivenom CALL YOUR LOCAL VETERINARIAN because dogs and horses get bit ALL THE TIME and they always have anti venom I had a neighbor whos 3 yr old picked one up in her garden 3 times and got bit 3 times and they had ko antibenom at the emergency so they had to medicac him to VEGAS to get antivenom when my veterinarian literally 6 blocks away HAD PLENTY and that little boy almost lost his hand and his LIFE

When I used to live in Porter Ranch, California, there would be signs around saying to watch out for rattlesnakes. Thankfully, I never encountered one, but I did run into a few coyotes walking my dog. Thankfully they were afraid of my huge 93 pound basset hound.

They didn't have to kill it. They could call 911 who would connect them to a removal service where they would take it away to a remote natural habitat.

I actually can’t believe this is news, the amount of times I’ve seen this happen, heck we found one on our school playground and a middle schooler stomped its head and paraded it thru the school halls walking into each classroom along the way showing it off

I live about 4 miles away from where this happened in White House Forks. I have killed 18 Diamond Back Rattlesnake's and 22 Ground Rattlers here on my street. The largest one I've killed here was 6 foot 5 inches long and it was a female rattlesnake. If you don't know how to tell the difference between the Male and Female rattlesnake - look at it's back. If you see Diamond shapes going down it's back it's a Male. The weird thing that is different about the Female rattlesnakes is when you look down the back of the snake and you see Heart shapes going down the back you are looking at a Female rattlesnake. The Ground Rattlers are different but I don't take time to get too close to check. The Ground Rattlers are just as poisonous as the diamond back's. Plus the Ground Rattlers can hide under brush and leaves and when you walk by them they don't have any Rattlers on their tails. But they will still hit their tips of their tails against the ground. Nothing for kids to mess with on either one. I live behind a elementary school here and all the Rattlesnake's and Ground Rattlers that I have killed were either going towards the school or coming from the school. I spoke with the principal at the school and told her how many rattlesnakes and ground Rattlers that I had killed to keep the kids safe and she said that the snake's are coming to the back of the cafeteria to the dumpster getting the rats and mice. I told her to call animal control and have them spray a few bags of powdered sulfur around the entire school property and around the building. It will make any poisonous snakes leave because it burns their bellies . The principal said that she would check that out and if she finds out that the powdered sulfur does what I said it would that she would have the animal control sprinkle it all around the school. I told her that it would not burn human skin but not to put it out when the wind is blowing. I used to live directly behind the school and I know that I only killed a portion of the snake's.

No need to run over the snake. They avoid people - it’s only when we try to handle or corner them that they get aggressive. This fear is an example of the paranoia that people have which makes snakes some of the most misunderstood, maligned creatures on our planet.
