In my opinion, you should calculate total 3 to 6 months of salary for purchasing the car, it’ll be easier to manage whole month until unless you are planning to shift in the car. As everyone other expenses also

I have this rule in my mind for which i want to take opinions of others on it...
The rule is if you want to buy a car suppose its worth 20 lakhs, so your yearly salary after tax should be 20 lakhs (basically the money in hand), also if you want to play very safe in that (you must have 20 lakhs in liquid, probably invested somewhere which could generate you returns in case your job is gone and you dont have money to pay that emi so...)
