How to find the shaded region as illustrated by a circle inscribed in a square.

The circle inside a square problem can be solved by first finding the area of the square and then subtracting the area of the circle.

Normally you are given the width of the square, or the radius of the circle, and this is enough information to calculate the area of both the square and circle.

They used 3.14159 which is how they got 86.84. Many people used 3.14 and 3.142 which will give you varied answers but as long as 86 is the first number present you are correct.
