In an episode where Doof makes a ray which causes the thing the target is most scared of assumes a physical form. He uses the ray on Perry but nothing happens which leads Doof thinking that his device failed. Upon hearing that Perry slides a card from under the ropes he's tied in and Doof picks it up, wears his reading glasses and reads. This interaction lead me to believe that their initial confrontation should've been something like this:

*Wall breaks*
*Doof shuts the device off because its too loud and comes*
Hey, do you know how expensive those wallpapers were? Ugh, I knew I shouldn't do wallpapers. I mean who likes gluing stuff on the walls and..
*Perry and Doof looking at eachother*
A platypus?
*Perry wears his fedora*
What are you supposed to be? A reporter? Do you know how many professions can wear a fedora and break my wall like that? You gotta be more explainatory than that, pal.
*Perry searches for his business card and gives it to Doof*
What's this? *Wears reading glasses* Oh, your name is Perry? Well, you don't look like a Perry to me to be honest but nice to meet you.
