Ok I now know that I don't have to sing on the root note all the time. I have been searching vocal vids for this simple answer and none ever say that.

I would like this video to be 15:40 rather than 1:54 because it just brought up so many more questions

It’s funny how she talks to us like we’re children

Good vocal melodies are the Holy Grail of music composition/ songwriting. Great words, excellent rhythmic content and an interesting harmonic background are all very important.
This lady tried to explain this mysterious, black art in under 2 minutes, so we really shouldn't have been expecting much. I'll end by quoting Joe Meek - 'If it sounds right, it IS right...'

Question. My voice wants to go to root note when a song starts with original singer matching 3rd of chord. Are you saying that's okay? Or am I not understanding?

My issue is that I keep getting stuck singing within the same pitch of a chored but running out of ideas. Trying to make a song melody sounds good And not using the same technique for each song I write. I guess i'm trying to figure out how to widen my vocal range while i'm writing.
I seem to get in the same pattern on each song. I write while i'm trying to create a little contrast between them. To whoever reads us and wants to reply I hope What i'm posting makes sense to someone..

I was worried that you would come up with a stiff idea of how and that would make no sense to me, agree 100% but what do I know? I have no classic music theory training at all. I just try to use me old ears and sometimes it sounds really bad haha …!

Ok, so my originals don't sound great when I match guitar chords with vocal chords. Is there a formula to avoid this ?
