My Priesthood Journey - Rev Fr Simon Labrooy
Показать описание
"The priest is not a priest for himself - he is for you. After God, the priest is everything”
(St John Vianney)
His initial sights were not set on the priesthood.
“As a young boy, I never wanted to be a priest,” says Klang-born James Simon Labrooy, who had simply tagged along with his best friend to attend a vocation camp in Port Dickson in the 1980’s.
Describing the journey to the seaside town in Negeri Sembilan as an adventure (“it was like going to Las Vegas”), the weekend vocation camp turned out to be a turning point for the young man.
Twenty-five years later, Rev Fr Simon Labrooy who completed his seminary formation in 1997 at the College General, Major Seminary in Penang, has come full circle.
Since July 2017, he is a full-time formator at the seminary. The Church of the Immaculate Conception in Penang serves as the home parish for Fr Simon, his priestly colleagues and seminarians, and their presence has proven to be a blessing to all of us.
Ahead of the 25th anniversary of his ordination which falls on July 6, we celebrate with our beloved Fr Simon by sending congratulations, love and blessings.
For 25 years you have served the Lord in a most special way.
May this sacerdotal anniversary bring happy memories to you and may the days ahead be filled with more blessings.
