I really appreciate that your first tip was about pre-production. It's something I think most content creators overlook, but it's literally the blueprint for your entire project. You can figure out and fix so many production/content issues with good pre-production that would otherwise be a nightmare to handle while shooting or editing. Taking the time to do scripts, draw out storyboards, and plan your production cycle really is the key to a smooth workflow.

Hey for some reason, at 13:29, your audio does this really weird glitching, playback delay, bouncing left and right audio effect. I assume it's just a rendering glitch but I got so confused when I listened back to it.

I was the guy asking about the programming possibilities--thank you for taking the time to answer! Sounds like I need to focus on pre-production planning more, and I'll take a look at Davinci's Python integrations. That idea around automating some post-processing behind a hot-key sounds good, too. Thanks!

Nice, so glad you ended up making this after your community post! Now to sit and wait patiently for a Razer Audio Mixer review.

Great video! Really interesting topic, like you, I also think the editing part is my favourite part of the process too!

Yes! I just pulled the trigger for a year of abobe cc ($$$) because I wanted to pursue freelancing on Premiere. It seems like most people list that specifically still on job listings and like it on resumes. But I didn't think Resolve was competing like you make it out to be. So while I've already spent the money, I am excited to watch you break down some things on Resolve and hopefully move away from Vegas in the near future in which ever direction I go :) I love vegas for some reasons like the simplicity in certain areas, but the crashing and other stability issues is a huge headache.

16:15 i feel you on this. If my channel ever started making money and i needed an employee, the editor wouldn’t be my first employee.

I have a tutorial channel where the main focus is a screen recording of an application. I was going to try to introduce some talking head segments as possible B roll but am struggling a little with other B roll options as ultimately I generally aim for 5 to 10 minutes so feel like most B roll would be a distraction or make it more difficult to follow. Any advice? Going to look back at some of your videos to see what you have done in the past just to get some ideas

Newer to editing so learning a lot at this point.

On the point of using stream markers to more easily edit your VODs, I wrote a how to guide to convert your stream markers into an importable file for your editing software. If folks want to see it, it's in the EposVox discord in one of the help channels.

Happy editing

I love to use separate audio channels in my recording output...
Channel 1 is my audio mixed for livestream, Channel 2 is the game audio, 3 is my mic and 4 the Discord / multi-play chat.

In editing, I use channel 1 for my first pass quick cut edit, then throw that channel out and use the separated ones so I can cut out stupid things I say without affecting the gameplay audio, cut out when "Dave" swears or coughs and even move something I said to a better place in the video. (like when I react late in a livestream, I can move my reaction to where it actually happened as I am slow and sometimes my is five seconds after I died...

I love editing (slowly getting better I hope) but didn't have a great deal to edit, so started livestreaming to give me something fun to edit.
Now some of my livestreams are just that and I may clip a TikTok or something if something funny happens.
But my livestreams for editing are planned out (don't always go to plan) but I try to make sure I know what I want to do and when and why to make a (hopefully) fun video from it.

So glad when the professor says I am doing (some) things right :-)

I haven't looked into it that much, but "Timebolt" looks promising for automatically removing silences between sentences. Might be good for talking heads videos.
There is also a way to remove silences between sentences with Adobe Audition, that involve analyzing silence, making markers, exporting markers to a blank video from Audition and something more, don't remember, but
"The Premiere Pro" has a tutorial on it...
Could be good for those who can't be arsed with the "time consuming" first cutting process.

I spent this winter writing an auto-improter for Resolve (the manual importing drove me NUTS). It's a bit of pain to get the coding up & running but afterwards you can do some cool stuff quite easily!

How long should you try making a YouTube channel work before giving up?

Like is there a number of videos or period of sustained failure where one should start to consider that they just aren't very good at this?

Oh god, what happened to your audio on @13:30 for a few seconds?

I edit with Shotcut. I film with a Pixel 3a and a $20 lav mic. Sometimes on a $20 tripod with ring light. I love time lapses, so I also use my Go Pro for B roll. I don't see any of this changing soon, LOL 😜
