Grew up Roman/Latin Catholic, now attend the Ukrainian Catholic Church - all ONE Catholic Church! If you have the chance, check out an Eastern Rite near you! You will love how diverse the Catholic Church is.

I'm amazed how glamorous the catholic church has always been and how they (the Pope and his people) create laws that all must follow. The Catholic church looks nothing like what Jesus preached. Jesus rode in on a donkey, he stayed with friends in regular homes, he ate with tax collectors and sinners, he did not adorn Himself with fine robes and jewels. Compare that to what we SEE and HEAR come from the throne of the Pope. When I look at Catholicism, I see the Pharisees.

Yes. Roman Rite or Latin Rite are both correct when referring to the rite, but all the various rites are one in the Catholic Church, as we are all part of Christ's mystical body. ☺️

East Syriac Syro-Malabar Catholic here!😆
And boy how I always used to call myself, and tell others that I'm a 'Roman Catholic, of the Roman Catholic Church'.
Ok, I was dumb. But this really helped me☺

The Roman rite, out of, I believe 23 rites, is the largest rite in the Catholic Church, and
Latin is the universal language of the Catholic Church.

I've never considered "Roman Catholic" to be a slur or insult. Some Protestants may use it that way, but it doesn't bother me. I'm part of the Roman Rite, so technically, I am a Roman Catholic.

Yeah so many people using that against Us and they used the writings of Ignatius as if it's catholic and Rome must be Roman Catholic church but it's not Roman Catholic church it's called Catholic church

“Roman” as in “Roman rite” or “Roman Catholic” is correct.
Missal covers are printed “Roman missals”. It refers to the first See being seated in Rome, it does not refer to the Roman Empire. The term may even be intended as a slur by Protestants who don’t know any better, but that doesn’t make it so.

I love that we do not define ourselves by criticizing any other religion or tradition. We have an entirely affirmative belief: we affirm "One body and one Spirit; one hope One Lord, one faith, one baptism." (Eph 4:5) Praise God!

Here in Brazil we say either Catholic or Roman Apostolic Catholic.
Saying just Roman Catholic sounds insulting around here, and it's usually said by protestants. It's always weird to hear english speaking catholics saying that.
When we need to distinguish the sui juris church we say Oriental Catholic and Latin Catholic.

I am personally of the Roman Rite. But I have attended (and received the Eucharist at) Divine Liturgy in the Byzantine Rite (of the Ruthenians). And one of our priests in my home parish was a Syro-Malabar Chaldean-Rite priest (from India). On his jubilee of ordination, he had celebrated the Divine Liturgy among us according to his indigenous rite. Our parish was privileged to partake of that Divine Liturgy on that Sunday afternoon.
