I was reminiscing about trying to learn to hula when I was young and not being very successful, thought I'd get online and see if maybe I could finally master it 40 years later. I stumbled across your video and wanted to let you know that you totally made my day, with your positive energy and the kindness in your voice . You have such a beautiful aura and make learning enjoyable, like it should be. Thank you!

I love your teachings. I am so glad you made these videos. I just now found them. I use to dance Hawaiian and Tahitian about 20 years ago when I was in my 20s, which kept me in shape. I attended lessons and workshops. When I moved back to Los Angeles from San Francisco I could not find any teachers and eventually stop dancing. Now I am finding teachers on YouTube and it is saving my life. I have developed Diabetes and doctors say I must exercise. Honestly, the only exercise I ever loved is Polynesian Dance. Going back to basic hula is bringing back all the memories and joy of dancing. It's as if I have returned home from a long journey. By the way, I am not an islander but I love island culture. Thank you very much for sharing your wisdom and knowledge. I truly appreciate you Belle.

Since I was a child I wanted to learn hula. I don't know why I never did. Now I am 62 and decided it is time :]. I have looked around my area for classes, but there are none near by. And then I found you! I have a long way to go, and was tired after attempting only this video, lol, but I intend to persevere. Mahalo.

I took hula dance for 3 years as a child at a community center on the east side of indianapolis, then 3 years of tiatich dance. now my daughter is having a Hawaii festive at her pre school she works at and asked me to dance with the pre school kids. I agreed. these simple moves took me back. I'm 55 now but it all is coming back. thank you so much for the video.

I've started attending in person classes. I'm happy that these videos help me remember the steps and the moves and the names of the steps in the moves to practice at home in between classes.
I'm a slow learner, but I'm going to get good at this, come hell or high water.

Though many people teach the hipsway as a "ka`o", it is properly called an "akalewa". Please refer to the Hawaiian dictionary to find out what these terms literally mean. Thank you for sharing your love of the hula!

Nice tutorial made it simple for me to learn the basic steps. For Bryton and Maggie's Life, it is a tutorial for hips and and feet, not a hula dance tutorial.

There’s no hula classes taught in my state, so I’ve resorted to learning online
