The one that was so affected by 9/11 that it couldn’t keep going broke my heart.

They also say some of the rescuers had to bury themselves for the search and rescue dogs to find them so they could feel better finding people alive because they were getting too sad from only finding dead bodies. Dogs feel too! 😢

As a canine handler at the Pentagon, who searched the rubble in the days following 9/11, I want to say thank you for remembering our late canine partners. Their contributions have been celebrated has heroic. In reality, they were just well trained dogs wanting to please their handlers. They are loved by all because of it.

Let's not forget Sirius, the only police dog who died in the WTC disaster. If I remember correctly, when the rescue workers found him, they brought him out on a stretcher covered with the American flag.

Who are these amazing creatures who give such love and devotion in so many ways, until their last breath? Dogs are angels walking among us. Humanity is better with canine friends by our side.

Fun fact the person that tractor saved told a animal planet about him and in 2009 they cloned him making five brand new puppies and they named them déjà vu trusty valorous solace and for the last one prodigy

One of the worst parts is that they were trained to find humans alive, so when most of the people they found had already passed away, they thought that they were doing a bad job. And there wasnt a good way to assure they that they were doing a great job.

I remember one dog from the Oklahoma City bombing tragedy, had also stopped eating and had become extremely depressed, but it wasn't until the 3rd day of trying to work the scene that he rinsed off the dog with cool water because it was so hot and his handler busted out crying and started apologizing to him because he finally understood what was going the clear water ran down the dog and turned a deep rusty red. He'd been covered in blood the entire time and no one KNEW it!
BeCaUsE the explosion had turned blood into a mist that dried and had covered everything, so as the dogs were searching, they were becoming depressed because they were covered with the scent of death😢 so they stopped looking for survivors, because they weren't cadaver dogs, and because their handlers didn't know what was happening, they didn't do reward / positive reinforcement play, so they were in a constant state of depression and it was because of THAT, they now take even more care of their spirit and give them a bath, after they do any searches involving explosives and the possibility of vaporized don't get me wrong, the handlers AlWaYs take great care of their dogs so please don't think otherwise because you have to remember that back then no dog had worked a scene like that before, in America.
Dogs are part of our souls, so when they hurt, we hurt ⚔️🇺🇸⚔️ never forget that it only took one person to take down a building in Oklahoma and 19 to bring us to our knees so stay safe and be aware because it IS going to happen again except for this time it's going to make 9ll seem like a carnival 😔
