From the Appendix to Orwell's "1984":

"Considerations of prestige made it desirable to preserve the memory of certain historical figures, while at the same time bringing their achievements into line with the philosophy of Ingsoc. Various writers, such as Shakespeare, Milton, Swift, Byron, Dickens, and some others were therefore in process of translation: when the task had been completed, their original writings, with all else that survived of the literature of the past, would be destroyed."

There is no good reason to edit these books.

They should leave the man's books unmolested. He is considered the children's answer to Charles Dickens for a reason. The man is one of the best ever to write to the kiddies. Don't change a comma.

How is weight in the same category as race? You can change your weight but you can't change your race. Also classic "we should talk about this over here instead" instead of censorship 😂

Dear God, save us from the eternally offended. If you don't like something, don't read it.

It doesn’t matter if Roald Dahl has said anti-Semitic things, the books he has written don’t promote that in their content. That is a piss poor excuse to just throw these books under the bus. Dahl’s exaggerated language and use of hyperbole and imagery is the heart of all his work. These changes quite literally denote the usage of hyperbole and description as all offensive.

Why would they edit his work he was a literary genius

Seriously if you wanted to fix a book and make people more happy then they should consider not bothering with the books and mind their own P’s&Q’s

Roald Dahl had such colourful and unique descriptions for his characters, chock full of imagination.

Rohal Dahl was a scum bag yes (because of his hatred of Jews) but its no reason to change his work! You should educate people on why RD is a controversial figure and then allow parrents to make up their own minds.
