The Roald Dahl controversy explained

Critics are accusing the British publisher of Roald Dahl's classic children's books of censorship after it altered some of the language in his books to make them more acceptable for modern readers. CBC’s Griffin Jaeger explains:

Various writers, such as Shakespeare, Milton, Swift, Byron, Dickens, and some others were therefore in process of translation: when the task had been completed, their original writings, with all else that survived of the literature of the past, would be destroyed."

They should leave the man's books unmolested. He is considered the children's answer to Charles Dickens for a reason. The man is one of the best ever to write to the kiddies. Don't change a comma.

It doesn’t matter if Roald Dahl has said anti-Semitic things, the books he has written don’t promote that in their content. That is a piss poor excuse to just throw these books under the bus. Dahl’s exaggerated language and use of hyperbole and imagery is the heart of all his work. These changes quite literally denote the usage of hyperbole and description as all offensive.

Roald Dahl had such colourful and unique descriptions for his characters, chock full of imagination.

Rohal Dahl was a scum bag yes (because of his hatred of Jews) but its no reason to change his work! You should educate people on why RD is a controversial figure and then allow parrents to make up their own minds.
