Elon Musk revealed NASA Hiding A Shocking Secret about Boeing Starliner Return!
How will Nasa plan to bring Boeing's troubled Star liner home?
Finally, after weeks of debate, NASA has revealed the details on how to bring this big white elephant back instead of turning it into space junk.
Find out everything in today's Techmap episode.
But before we begin, let's subscribe to the channel to stay up-to-date with the latest space news.
Elon Musk revealed NASA Hiding A Shocking Secret about Boeing Starliner Return!
The name of the Boeing Star liner Calypso reminds us of a nymph from Greek mythology, named Calypso. She lived on the island of Ogygia, where she detained Odysseus for seven years against his will. She promised Odysseus immortality if he would stay with her, but Odysseus preferred to return home. Eventually, after the intervention of the other gods, Calypso is forced to let Odysseus go.
This story could be modified a little bit to accommodate the current context. The troubled Boeing Star liner nymph detained two Nasa astronauts Butch and Sunni for more than two months against their will to stay around 8 days. She promised two astronauts an indefinite life in space if they agreed to be stuck with her but Willmore and William preferred to return home.
Elon Musk revealed NASA Hiding A Shocking Secret about Boeing Starliner Return!
The reason Boeing can be so arrogant is because they have a powerful god protecting them, named Nasa. In reality, during those over two months, despite the public outrage, the US space agency still found all ways to protect its preferred contractor, saying that Star liner didn't have any trouble with its return capability, and the option to order a rescue mission was just a rumor. When the Star liner's problem was getting worse and the media pressure was increasing, Nasa ultimately acknowledged that based on the core value: commitment to safety, Boeing Star liner would make an uncrewed return and let the alternative spacecraft, SpaceX Dragon bring the astronaut home.
This announcement is made by Nasa administrator, Bill Nelson through a live news conference on Saturday, August 24, 2024, as well as his tweet on the same day:
"Spaceflight is risky, even at its safest and most routine. A test flight, by nature, is neither safe nor routine. Our decision to keep Butch and Suni aboard the Space Station and bring Star liner home uncrewed is the result of our commitment to safety: our core value."
Consequently, Wilmore and Williams will continue their work formally as part of the Expedition 71/72 crew through February 2025. They will fly home aboard a Dragon spacecraft with two other crew members assigned to the agency’s SpaceX Crew-9 mission. Star liner is expected to depart from the space station and make a safe, controlled autonomous re-entry and landing in early September.

The big reason for Boeings problems is Boeing's DEI. Instead of hiring based upun merit, Boeing hires based upon entitlement.

If you want to know why NASA's leadership and some in Congress wanted to keep this quiet, FOLLOW THE MONEY".

Yep, you nailed the problem with Boeing and many other companies. Incompetence hires incompetence. A once great engineering led company became dismissive of the engineering talent and promoted bean counters and politicians that knew how to milk IDIQ contracts for every last drop.

Boeing's main problem with quality in all aspects of their business is DEI. As we have seen with the 737 Max lives have been lost. Can we expect the same with the Starliner. It's time to hire people based on their abilities.

Two commercial aircraft are parked on an airport gate, both getting ready to go to your destination. One is manufactured by Boeing, the other is manufactured by SpaceX. Which aircraft do you board?

NASA has always been a government jobs program, more than a space program. 😢

Boeing does NOT have "100 years of space flight history".

How much is Bill Nelson being paid by Boeing?

I'm a retired IT Project Manager and former Systems Administrator. Accounting/Bean Counters/Budget Cutters are the sworn mortal enemy of technology. Boeing's problem is that engineers no longer run the company. It's run by accountants and attorneys.

NASA: stop protecting Boeing - if they can't do the job with more money than Space X (who has been highly successful), get somebody else.

Like every other YouTube video related to star liner, this one features a breathless headline but contains yet another detailed history lesson. This video takes that a step further by starting with a lesson from Greek mythology.

Seems NASA has two sets of rules, same as our legal system.

Bill Nelson is the ultimate bureaucrat.

Starliner returns uncrewed? Yes, as a big fireball. Unmanned is definitely a better choice.

All these deficiencies with star liner are convenient excuses for Boeing to escape the contract.

I don't trust Boeing or NASA anymore.

It seems commitment to quality and safety has taken a backseat to politics and corporate bean counters motivated by greed rather than Human Achievement !
