That's the wrong Bush. 🤔

We've been urged to save power with LED bulbs & such, because our power grids are currently struggling to keep up with the demand we have now. How in the world do we charge a bunch of new electric cars without building more generating stations?

Forget about the infrastructure, the argument that EVs are less pollutants is only right when you get the charge from a renewable source otherwise charging them from fossil fuel resources is relocating green house gases from point A to B .

I've never owned a car that cost more than $11k. I just dont see the point in waisting +$600/month on a car. It's a waste of money if ur not making +6 figures. Its irresistible spending.

Let’s be real though Scotty the future of cars is electric which isn’t that bad of thing. Even you yourself say 90% of gas cars are junk besides Toyota’s and Honda’s.

You jump from the 1880s all the way to the present, but there were intermediate steps along the way. I drove an electric car back in the 70's, a Sebring-Vanguard Citicar. It was a later version, so it had the upgrade to the 6 HP motor, and the upgrade to 8 6-Volt Marine Duty Lead-Acid Batteries, which were in series to achieve up to 48 volts. Since they were in series, a single bad cell was a major problem. The ozone produced by the motor ate tires. Other than that, and the fact that they had no AC or heat, and a short range (claimed 50 mi, 35 was more reasonable), a low top-end speed (claimed 35 mph, 32 mph was more reasonable), plus the fact that they were tiny, they were a fine car. In fact, you can still find them on EBay for about $3000 (not working), which I think is higher than their original price.

Electric cars of today have come a long way, but there are still truths which can be learned from the past. For example, if you use accessories that use power (heat, AC in particular), that power must come from the battery, and will reduce your range.

I’ve ordered the Toyota Yaris cross Hybrid excel (UK) for next March ! As I can’t see fossil fuels going down the Tube for at least another decade
And as I only drive local ‘ the MPG is great + the UK Infrastructure for EVs is about as much use as a handbrake on the QE2 🛳………..
PS another good video Scotty

Electric cars are fine if by choice, but they shouldn't be forced on the consumer.

Dear Scotty, I once almost bought a used Mercedes as my first car. I then accidentally ended up on your channel, watched some of your videos and finally decided to buy a 2008 Lexus IS 250 with 200k+ miles on it. It's been over 4 months now and I'm completely in love with it. I've not had a single problem. It looks and runs like a brand new car. Thank you sooo much for all of your advice. I can't describe how grateful I am for all the advice you've provided all these years.

Edit: Woooah! Thank you so much for 700+ likes!

I have two electric bicycles (actually hybrid because you can peddle them) which are way more practical than a 4, 000 pound electric car to carry one or two people around town.
I charge them with a 50 watt solar panel and can ride 20 to 30 miles per charge. Not as practical as a car when it rains but lots of fun the rest of the time.

Thank you Scotty for your input, I bought my wife a Toyota Prius prime. There’s very few charging stations in the area I live. The Prius prime plugged into a normal 110 V AC outlet. She travels to work which is about 35 km, with the electric car. She plugs her car in while she’s working at a regular outlet, and can drive home on electricity. If there’s a problem and cannot plug the car in she just drives it using the gasoline generator in the car. I’m not sure of the gas mileage running this way but it’s very cheap. She was driving a Hyundai Santa Fe, the fuel she was using was costing more than the payment on the new car and the fuel she is using now
