Relocated just 1 to the front block, bought a longer harness, works great, light went off, stayed off, and got an extra sensor 😂

Just fix it right.
The intake manifold is only 8 small M6 bolts. And some connectors.

Here's the details:
Unclip the fuel line, pull all the connectors on the harness, and remove 8 bolts. Lift off manifold. Clean years of dirt and buildup with a shop vac.
Replace knock sensors, add silicone dam as per TSB, check wires with an multimeter to make sure they're not broken. Inspect connectors for damage and corrosion. Add a dab of dielectric grease to each connector and attach to knock sensors.
Install new intake gaskets. Install intake manifold, and tighten down the 8 bolts, torqued to spec. Plug in harness connectors and fuel line.
2h tops, and that's being generous. Most people can have the intake manifold off in 15 mins.
Test, and you're done...

I’m glad I didn’t know about this last weekend because I would have been tempted to do this hokey thing instead of doing what I did. Intake off and all

Very easy job to complete. Just do it the right way.

I did the knock sensor relocation and it worked for me. Thanks for the info...

Doing it the right way gives you a chance to clean up everything and put in better intake gaskets though. It’s way better to do it the right way.

I relocated the knock sensors in my 03 Suburban and the knock sensor codes went away. I used some brackets made by ict billet. The knock sensors are attached to the engine block close to the oil pan. I did it because I have a whipple supercharger and it would be a pain to take that off just for knock sensors.

If only one goes bad. You can also splice the harness where it thinks its looking at two.

Good to hear the good results. I need to help my friend with gis 4.8 liter that needs new knock sensor(s). I just hope the smog technician doesn't fail it as "tampered".

Relocated my 01 sensors both on driver side. Had to buy a threaded rod and worked great

Thanks for covering this detail.
I think I texted you this sometime ago. On my 2005 Avalanche, it’s been fine & it’s been a few years since it was done. Maybe lazy, but seems to work

I changed the intake gasket on a 2001 Silverado. Still original knock sensor. no problems. Like others said; just do it right. Once the good gasket was installed on the intake manifold; no more idle issues. I like the 1999 through 2002 headlights. Do not like the cat-eyes.

I was taught early on that parts are where they are because millions of dollars worth of engineering went into research and development. You probably don't "know better" than the design team. Put things back how they were! I was also taught that upon completion of a job, it should appear as if you never touched it. Best two pieces of automotive advice I ever got.

If I used GM knock sensor can I use the factory harness? Or do I got to buy a new harness as well?

I did it the right way. Follow the bulletin and build the dam of rtv to direct the flow of any water.

Super easy to get to, not sure why you'd relocate. Just do the RTV around the seal for extra caution and you're all set.

The knock sensor just popped up on 6.0 2002 silverado, so i want to relocate them under tire tire later.

Just do the job the right way, and if you're unsure make sure that you look up all your torque specs make sure you look up how to crisscross your tightening on the intake, and take a lot of photos. If you're unsure how things route or hook up before you unhook anything or move anything take a picture, it goes a long ways into helping get it back right and learning, and trust me if you've never done this type of work before you watch these videos you take plenty of pictures before you take stuff apart and while you're taking apart and you successfully do the job the feeling of accomplishment and confidence is very rewarding and can lead you in the doing other things on your vehicle that will save you lots of money down the road. That being said hey if you can afford to take it to a shop and you got that kind of money laying around and you're not that attached to it go ahead no problem.
