In my LS swapped C10, knock sensors failed after about 1500 miles on the swap. Instead of spending a $100 for good quality knock sensors I called up my tuner and he deleted them out of the tune for me for free since he offers lifetime free retunes. Now the truck runs better than ever

04 Silverado 6.0L. For me it was the harness to my throttle body. Mice had chewed through all the wires, previous owner had twisted and taped the wires back. Engine oil had gotten under the tape, increasing electrical resistance. I cleaned the wires with 91% isopropyl alcohol, stripped the wires back a bit, western-union twist on the wires, soldered, heat shrink, and done. I haven’t had a reduced engine power alert come up since. Probably not everyone’s problem point, but if it helps one person, it’s worth typing.

04 Chevy Tahoe 212, 000 miles z71 with barn doors emerald green .I love your videos you have covered every problem I am experiencing. The fuel injectors, raw fuel & black smoke out the exhaust, rough idle and lean codes, intake manifold gaskets, lack of acceleration and power at times knock sensors handle check those ground wire as you pointed out, I am in the process of doing all of the above, and I just saw your video about the valve cover update . I've been a motorcycle and snowmobile mechanic and owned my own shop for 40 plus years but I've learned you can always teach a old dog new tricks thanks so much

You are absolutely right. I wish I found your videos years ago. My 2006 Silverado has experienced all those problems.

I had intake manifold gasket fail, it’s a cheaply made multi layer metal gasket .
I switched it to a felpro gasket, no more issues .
Please keep those trucks and rebuild it if you can . The new trucks are not good, weird. Acceleration (delay) and afm nonsense.

I just did a transmission swap and of course the transmission dip stick tube is the hardest part to get back in. I think i broke that ground wire back there on the passenger side trying to stab the dip stick tube back in place because now i get reduced engine power and it wasn't doing that before i did the swap. Good info. I'll start at that number 1 spot.

The reduced engine power message itself is always going to be related to the electronic throttle bodies(03+). Can happen when the throttle body gets too dirty with carbon build up and causing the throttle blade to stick, when the throttle actuator unit itself is bad(would be better to replace the whole throttle body itself), sometimes there can be an issue with the gas pedal sensor as well(again on 03+ trucks with electronic throttle body, doesn’t apply to 99-02 cable driven throttle bodies), and as mentioned in the video wiring issues as well. Ground wires, and/or even the wiring from the throttle body, to the accelerator pedal, the throttle control module(mounted on driverside fire while between fender and brake booster) and even some wiring running into the PCM itself. Also another very important note, if pressure washing engine bay, BE CAREFUL not to get any bit of moisture into the throttle connector or else you will get the dreaded Reduced Engine Power message and go into limp mode. I had to learn that the hard way with mine and I’ve learned to be much more careful afterwards

2003 Escalade ESV 6.0 (lq9). 248, 000 miles.
Decent power, but it is a bit reduced. Ty for this vid! Will check all the grounds as soon as this snow storm passes.
All of your GMT800 vids have been very helpful to me. 👍👍

Im thinking its knock sensors and fixing the intake manifold gasket with fel pro gaskets.I would hate to go through all that and it not be the issue but thats my luck or lack there of. It might be an exhaust leak I really dont know the mechanic that was helping me and doing some of the work also said it needed a crash sensor but he didnt know that it had to be a gm sensor until his other mechanic friend tild him. So I got charged 75 dollars for a part that you couldnt use and had to go find one at the junkyard needless to say I dont have him helping me anymore😂 Which is why im figuring out on my own.Good mechanics are hard to find in this area.Theyll take you on a ride around here. Thanks man I appreciate you.

This is why I like the 350 small blocks over the ls. Not only is the torque better for everyday driving but their is a hell of a lot less wiring and unnecessary sensors

I got my truck to start by wiggling the wires. Now to go go home and take care of these issues you mentioned. Gracias!!!! Repect!

my pickup had actually had this issue. previous owner had used about 18inches of wire to go maybe a foot. The wires going to the throttle position sensor. Created resistance the ecu did not like

My dad got one of these. We have to replace the engine now. Thats besides the point. He got this “limited edition” trim and the axle is a bit different as well as suspension and some other little things. Why is this package like no where on YouTube. It seems pretty cool.

Had this happen two or three times. This time it was the actual pedal position sensor…. I had the original 280, 000 miles on it. $15 Dorman part.

On my 2003 5.3 I had this issue on a drive back from Ohio to TX! I was in a bind. Turned out to be the TPS sensor. Swapped it out, never had a issue after

I had to put knock sensors on mine about a year ago. I went with ACDelco sensors and cheaped out on a Dorman harness…. every now and then it’ll pop a code. I just say “NO” and clear it. Only has done it twice since replacing 😅

Also check bolts on battery connectors, they strip out in the battery an the bolts

Had an 03 Sububan and the previous owner butt conectored the throttle body and it constantly went into reduced engine power. Replaced the throttle body and soldered the connection and never had the issue again. Sad shes no longer in my life
