Litra Torch Light vs Lume Cube

In this video I do a comparison of the Litra Torch Light against the Lume Cube and tell you the one I prefer to use. They are both excellent lights but there are some key differences. I also do a side by side comparison of the Litra Torch and the Lume Cube in the dark to see which one gives the brightest light.

The Litra torch light is cheaper in the long run as the accessories are quite a bit less in addition it already comes stock with a housing, diffuser and GoPro adapter.

Let me know which is your favorite light to use with your GoPro.

As someone who has had both Litra Torches and Lume Cubes for years - using both in dire situations in global documentary study abroad programs - I have to vote Litra. I've had three different Lume Cubes die on me in three different ways - glass smashing, seal giving out, and internal battery giving out. Nothing like that with the Torches (at least not yet).

Your channel has been exceptionally helpful making the transition from standard camera equipment to lighter GoPro style equipment and I'm very grateful for you. I'm happily sharing your channel with my fellow disabled photographers and videographers. We oddly exist.

As a photography junky, I just love this light source. I take it with me everywhere I go!

And now we have the Lume Cube Air. Litra still seems like a good choice. Nice review.

i would have been interested in the reach of the light. lumen is one thing and mostly measured a feet away, when you check then the specs, at three feet some fall apart

A diffuser makes the light more even, but not softer. The softness of light is strictly related to the size of the light source. The larger the light source, the softer it is, which is why we use a softbox. The smallest light source the harder it is. That's why the Sun light is hard. Such a small lamp like this litra pro will also always give hard light. To soften it we can reflect it off the wall. Then the wall becomes a huge source of light, so the light is soft. Of course doing this we lose some power of light. We do the same with flashguns - we reflect their flash off the ceiling or wall, creating a huge light source that provides soft lighting.

how does 1500 lumens look exactly the same as 800? i wonder if lime cube are lying? Maybe another test at a few metres back would have shown a difference?

My Litra Torch only lasts about 2 minutes on it's brightest setting before it shuts off because overheating? I won't stay on very long or hold its charge on the lesser settings too. POS for $79.99!

Great videos. I just wish they were more affordable. Totally love the litra light, didn’t think I would need a light till after I tired shooting in the dark with my GoPro. That thing sucks. Totally wish I had a light. Thanks for the help on figuring out which one I should save up for.

You didn't mention the Lume Cube's flash optical slave feature which you can activate by holding down the flash button. But the Litra still does give more bang for your buck though, even though I bought the Lume Cube myself, I can't deny, I really want that diffuser and filter sets.

I need to be able to control power output remotely. I know that Lume Cube offers this via their app. I also note that Lume Cube can be run continuously from a usb power supply. Does Litra offer either of these features?
