The broadcast rights of IPL are sold for thousands of crores to the highest bidder.

The title sponsor this year TATA, paid 670 crores for 2 years of title sponsorship to BCCI. Whereas two new teams - Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat titans were sold for thousands of crores.

After considering all of this BCCI should pay a lot in taxes, but it doesn't. Let's learn why.

I think instead of tax-paying, BCCI should actually invest in other sports too. Promotion of Every Sports in India should be emphasized.

I think there should be ammendment in Income tax act that if charitable organisations exceedes certain amout of surplus they should pay tax

BCCI SHOULD pay taxes and share the profits with the government. It is its moral obligation as well as responsibility that it holds towards the society. Also given that it’s a status quo has changed from when it was allowed exemption from taxes. Clearly and evidently it is involved in the entertainment sector now and should be made to hold accountable of its profit to the nation.
Promotion of cricket is not a charitable need now. It is a business.

Yes, BCCI should pay tax.
Every Individual is playing tax if it exceed the Income Tax slab and the Income tax slab is 5 lakh which is not change from last 2 years. So as per my view BCCI should pay the tax

I think that BCCI is contributing in our economy and making our indian team to stand out in international level so there is nothing wrong in not paying tax

BCCI must pay taxes on part of its income proportionate to entertainment. Spending by BCCI now on IPL is in no way a charitable purpose for Sec-12A

For taxation of trusts, the following is the income computation (the below is oversimplified)
1. Revenue less operating expenditure
2. Above amount less 15%
3. Any amount utilised for the purposes of trust must be deducted for computation of income

So, BCCI basically does tax planning to carefully utilise it's income towards IPL, World Cup etc. as it is for the purposes of cricket. This is why they are not paying any tax or paying very less tax.
