You haven't mentioned the most important factor for the creation of IPL. It was India's win in the 2007 t20 WC that made fans crazy about the format. Big miss.

It's all partly due to Sachin Tendulkar when he was the driving force for the popularisation of cricket in India 75% of our population watched the game just for Sachin 2 decades ago

Great timing of the video for an Indian who is facing cricket overhang currently. There's simply too much of it these days and too many injuries to the star players.

Cricket became so huge in India that it eclipsed all other sports in India.

India have also supported other countries with their success. Example in South Africa, the local franchises were stagnant until the IPL franchisea stepped in to essentially set up a reformed league.

I can’t wait for Major league cricket to launch here in the United States. We have such a large number of Americans who are 1st, and 2nd generations from south east Asia. I really think it’s going to be a hit. I think it’s going to win over a lot of baseball fans too. What’s really going to decide the growth is if we can get kids/teenagers to start playing it outside of the typical southeast Asian fanbase. I truly think we could have some of the best homegrown talent in the next decade. Baseball players would love to play to I think.
